It's just a day. Let it go. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a meal with family and friends.
Tomorrow, do what you did the day before today. You're fine. I promise.0 -
What happened today is already in the past. Tomorrow is always a new beginning.0

I think that having a day to over indulge once in a while is healthy. I think that if you had the desire to begin the journey in the first place, you have the will power to continue even if you over ate for one day. I think you will be fine if you do go back to your normal routine.0

It's okay. One day does not a breakdown make.0

I'm struggling too. I know this isn't going to be like every day. I know tomorrow will be better. Maybe I should have just stayed away from MFP tonight because I didn't feel guilty until I realized that so many of my friends managed to stay under today. And I totally blew it. :frown: I'm proud of them, but I'm mad at myself now. Oh well, lesson learned.0

This!
Every day is a new day. Say that out loud every morning when you get up and every evening when you go to bed. Take each day at a time and get back on track.0 -
It's possible you didn't do as poorly as you think you did. I planned on counting today as a "cheat day" and ate normal portions for lunch and small portions of leftover Thanksgiving food for dinner. I even enjoyed a piece of pumpkin pie (with whipped topping) and a couple of sugar cookies. I just entered my foods for the day and I ended up consuming exactly my goal amount! So, I didn't do as bad as I originally thought I did! Just think of it this way...it was only one day and tomorrow you will be back on track! : )0

It would take 3500 calories in excess of what you normally burn, to gain a pound of fat. I doupt you went 3500 over what you normally do. So don't let something like one bad day mess up all the progress you have been making. Please don't let that be an excuse. You might slide back a quarter or a half of a pound from today, if you continued to eat that way, but one day will get burned away, and mixed in with the super good you have been doing. We are human and will make human kind of poor judgements on things we know better than to do once and awhile. Forgive yourself and get back on back of the winning horse first thing in the morning. Thats my plan.0

Today should not dictate tomorrow. Start fresh, I choose not to eat the leftovers tomorrow. Start the day with a plan. Don't forget to add some exercise. You can do it!0

It really is all right to have a day when your calories get a little high--especially if that day is a holiday such as Thanksgiving! Guilt and shame will only make it harder to get back on track tomorrow. I agree with the many--spend this time enjoying your family. (and yes, the treating yourself!)0

Just keep looking for your motivators here, and put one foot in front of another.0

I'm shamelessly stealing a quote from a fellow MFPer who said she didn't get the way she was by eating on Thanksgiving, but by eating like it was Thanksgiving every day. One day will not undo all your progress, unless you let it turn into 2 days, then 3, etc. Just get back to your regular fitness and eating routine today, and focus on looking forward. Yesterday is history, don't dwell on it.0
