So I just joined this website from the advice of my sister. I have always struggled with food and have a job now where I am sitting all day. I have gained 20 lbs in the last 2 years but most of it being since April of this year. I have a 2 yr old and go to school on top of my full time job so I would really love some help on quick healthy meals and snacks. I do not want to continue on the road I'm on. I need to go in the opposite direction and not gain any more weight. I have another birthday coming up in March and would love to have some good progress if not reach my goal by then.
Any help and support is appreciated!! Thanks!

Welcome and you can do this - it's not dieting it's changeing your choices and the result with be lost pounds. Drink plenty of water and track everything you eat - every day. You will see results. Susan

This site has really helped me. I work in an office job as well and I too gained a lot of weight! Now I have made a massive change and I am getting closer to my goal! My work mates think I am crazy as I walk the block in my lunch break and actually eat healthy at work!

But the fact is I am healthier and feel amazing :)

    Welcome!
My tips are: eat protein in the morning. It keeps you full longer, so you don't hit lunchtime mouth first. :-)
Exercise before eating extras, like sweets (hello, chocolate chip cookies). If you plan ahead and exercise beforehand, then the cookie feels more like a reward, rather than eating it first, and then you have a calorie debt to pay off. Feels more positive.
Have a weekly weigh in day, so you aren't stepping on the scale every two hours. Weigh in the morning, before breakfast, wearing the same amount of clothing. More accurate that way.

Beans are your friend. High in fibre, high in protein. I love black beans, they are all kinds of goodness. Try making a meatless chili. Filling but way less fat than the beefy version. Rinse the canned beans so none of that Goo goes into the pot. (The goo is the gassy part)

Hope you have a truly enjoyable experience getting healthier. :-)

love these ideas! and just move more, take the stairs, park further away, play with your daughter outside if possible, take the dog for a walk if you have one, etc. count your housecleaning calories, and watch salt as it halts your weight loss

Hello. I have been on this site a few weeks and I have come to depend on it to help me keep track of what I am eating. I bake boneless skinless chicken breast twice a week. After its cooled I cut it into bite size pieces and put into zip lock baggies. For a salad with lots of protein throw in a handful of the cubed chicken. Also dinner is super fast if you make stir fry with the cooked chicken. A bag of frozen stir fry vegetables, a hand full of cooked chicken, and a little soy sauce and you have a low cal dinner. Hope this helpes. Friend me if you like.
  • Hi&Welcome--
This site is very helpful. I underestimated in the past how useful it is to track calories! Some useful hints--
-make a plate that is 1/4 lean protein, 1/4 healthy carbs and 1/2 veggies for every meal.
(For breakfast I do fruit, and I also make sure to add some healthy dairy as well...but this is only if you prefer it)
-Don't kill yourself if you go over calories one day a week (I give myself one day to "indulge"...within reason;)
-Try to vary your exercise routine-that way you never plateau &it stay's fun!

Hey! I am totally there with you girl. I gained about 20-25 pounds when I went to school to be an animator. And yes, that means sitting in front of a computer all day (ok, maybe I'll stand up to act something out once in a while... but really...). On top of that, that means after graduating- I get to sit all day in front of a computer at work as well!

I'm new here too! And already, am loving it. Tracking food is so easy here, and I love that they have EVERYTHING, as well as tell you the nutrients you are missing. Plus, having the app on your phone is pretty kick *kitten* as well. Good luck with everything! We're all here for support :)

It is tough, but we just have to block out all distractions and focus on making ourselves better. This site is very helpful. Feel free to add me :-) Good luck
