Losing cm but not weight?

I have been tracking for 20 days, eating really well and drinking good amounts of water. Been close to eating all my cals but haven't gone over. I have exercised daily, whether it walking the dog or zumba or a 1/2 hour work out at home...and in this time I have only lost 600 grams. Doesn't seem like much for all the exercise...altho I have lost 7cm off my waist -how can you lose that much off the waist and it not show on the scales? Is it from muscle gained?

  • I have the same issue-I have lost about an inch of my waist, and off my hips (not sure about thighs), yet the weight drop is minimal. However, I use weights a lot during cardio- not to mention if I do interval training. So, I would say that it's very possible you gained muscle weight.

Looking at your profile picture, you dont look like you need to loose weight so at a guess i would say you are firming up your muscles:bigsmile:

just had this problem myself this week, seem to have reduced bodyfat, but no result on the scales, not to down about it, I always find using the mirror is the best way to judge to be honest.

Also, most fat turns to muscles, before fat is burned off. Especially if you are smaller in weight. Also muscle burns off weight faster and better than fat!
  • 7cm off ur waist!!!!!
    that's fantastic!!!!!
I also gained weight in the last 20 - something days but lost an inch on my waist... my advice... keep working hard
    !
  • Sounds like you are doing everything you should be. At this point in your progress the scale means less and less-yes pun intended.

Congratulations! You are gaining muscle and losing fat - don't worry about the scale. Your measurements and the way your clothes fit are the best indicator of success!

Thanks everyone :) Feel a bit better. I am trying to focus a lot less on the number on the scales and more on the difference in photographs, I took pics 2 weeks apart and can see a change, as well as a change in posture, so I am happy with that :) I am so enjoying exercise for the 1st time ever...
