Weight loss and exercise question

I was told not to exercise til I hit a plateau. So, I've been walking some but not much. Not everyday at least. I'm worried about toning and loose skin. I have about 80-90 lbs to loose so I've got a ways to go. Also, I'm self conscious about my big butt up in the air and also I don't have the money to join a gym. What are some good exercises I can do at home for not much money when I do start exercising?
I'm 25(turned 25 today!!) If theres any women around my age that lost alot of weight, could you tell my how your skin did? I've also had 3 kids....so i'm not expect the stomach I had as a teenager. lol.

Who told you not to exercise? I've never heard such craziness (unless it came from you doctor). Exercise is good for everybody. I'll go reread your post and see if I can come up with some suggestions for you. Good luck!0

Okay, if you have a little bit of money, I highly recommend a resistance band with handles. There are tons of exercises you can do with it to tone both upper and lower body. If you can't invest in one of those, use your own body weight to do tricep dips, planks and push ups. Crunches, climbing the stairs, marching around your house. I do squats while I do laundry. It looks weird but I squat down to pick up each item from the dryer, fold it or put it on a hanger and then jump up and then do it all over again!0 -

Hey, happy birthday. Did your doctor tell you not to exercise? I guess they must have a reason. But unless it was your doctor I would say get out and get moving. Walking is fantastic exercise, 30 minutes a day or whatever you can fit in is great for your heart and general wellbeing, dancing around with the children would be good, anything that gets you moving. Other things you can do at home for no cost (best to check with the doctor if you're unsure about exercising):
push-ups - if you can't do the full push-up, try doing it on the knees (use a pillow or towel to stop hurting your knees) or start by just pushing off the wall, start at 10 pushups 2 times a day and add more as you get stronger/better at them.
squats - stand in front of a doorway and hold onto the door surrounds at hip height, then gently bend your knees, keeping your back straight, don't bend too far and check with your doc if your knees hurt, again 10 squats 2 times a day
star jumps -
book shoulder press - get a heavy book in each hand (or other object you can hold in one hand) elbows by your side, book at shoulder height then push them up to above your head, keep back straight, looking forward, then back down, do 10 x 2
imaginary rowing - hands out in front at shoulder height, pretend to row by pulling back then push hands forward again, 10 x 2
lunges - take abig step out in front, keep back straight, let your back knee drop, then step up to front foot. You can do this around the house with the girls, like a silly march.
Ball twists - get a big ball (like basketball size or any similar not too heavy object), sit on the ground and using a full body twist touch the ball down on either side of your butt, 10 x 2 each side
Fit these in whenever you have a moment. like when you just did a pee, do a set of squats or imaginery rowing in the bathroom.
You don't have to do them all at once, just fit them in around your day.
Also have a look on the net for body weight exercises.0 -
