In the past few months (mostly from message boards) I have noticed some people say "take away" when referring to getting food to go from a restaurant. Here in Michigan we say "take out".

I'm just curious, which do you say and where are you from?

Take away - England. Take out is a very American term I think?

Canadians and Americans say "take out." The rest of the world uses "take away."

Most of England says takeaway but the North West (where I'm at Uni) they say takeout. They also say 'pants' instead of 'trousers' here too, unlike the rest of the UK (to my knowledge).
