Weight increase, everything else better

I am sure people have posted topics on this already, but I couldn't find it, even while using the oh-so-user-friendly search feature </sarcasm>. Anyway, I went to weigh myself today and see if I managed to at least stay the same weight after Thanksgiving. Alas, it was not to be. I gained 1 pound, so I am back to my starting weight which is still pretty good from where I started back in October where I was at least 8 lbs above starting.
However, enough of getting side tracked. My scale read my body fat to be 8% lower than my last weigh in, from 52 down to 44%. My neck measurements increased by 3/4", waist down 1/2", and hips down 1". I am pretty happy about the measurements going down, but I need the weight to drop as well. For those who have not read in my first post, my goal is to go into military and as soon as possible. They do both weight measurements and body fat %, so if I can get the body fat % down to around 24% or lower, then I should be able to get in. At least, that is the impression I got from the military websites. If that is incorrect, please let me know. I plan to get down to the required weight as well, just may take longer than body fat to decline.

If you meet one criteria, you may be able to get an enlistment waiver. But you would have to meet both by the time you get through basic training or you would be discharged unless they could process another waiver, which is unlikely once you are "in".0

To gain a pound of fat from one day of overeating would be an impressive feat. More likely, that pound is from bloating/water retention, or waste that hasn't been processed through your system yet. Give it a few days.0

BTW....to help get that body fat down, you need to build muscle. So start lifting light weights. It will fall right off. How do I know all this...retired Navy after 23 years. Dieting got the weight off; lifting or other muscle building activity gets the fat off. You can lose weight like crazy and that fat will just creep off; but building muscle will whisk it away quickly.0

I forgot to mention, I would be entering at an officer level since I have received my 4-year college degree. So, it wouldn't just be enlisted, it would be Officer Training School or Command school, whichever branch it would be. I am sure the same thing applies though.0
