I've been layed up for a week now nursing shin splints. (Dr's orders) So I am unconsiously using this as an excuse to eat whatever I want. PLUS we had thanksgiving! I need to get back on the MFP wagon soon or risk gaining everything thing back. (Only lost 7 pounds in last 65 days) Hoping to get a long walk, maybe a little running in tomorrow, if shins feel ok. I do soooooo much better when I'm active. Just dieting isn't for me! Need a goal for exercising. Badly need some support

I find it difficult to stick to the calories when injured. I have been waiting out a knee problem over the past 6 weeks or so, and have put on a fair amount of weight. On the positive side at least some of it is water weight as my calories have not been nearly high enough to account for the weight put on, but I am thankful that I can now workout again, even if not at the intensity I did before. That will come, but now that I am working out, I find eating within my calorie much easier. As time went on I got better at staying in my calories until I got a really nasty cold last week. That is clearing up nicely now and I am back at it.

Keep at it and realize one week is not going to destroy everything. You can do this even without the exercise, it just might take time multiple tries to get there.
  • You'll be fine but if I were you I'd at least try to stick to maintenance while you're led up with splints. Don't need to always be moving forward

When I was unable to walk for a while I used this site on Youtube and did Zumba in a Chair. There are several short videos there. It might help you a bit

this is a lesson in changing things up. all summer i was running 3 to 4 times per week. i was losing slowly most of the summer. this fall i decided to take a break from running (and really all consistent exercise) because I am waking up with throbbing headaches every single day. I've lost more in the last few weeks than I lost during the summer. Not being able to exercise just means paying more attention to what you eat. Don't let an injury sideline your healthy eating plan. It's not the end of the world. There are always going to be times in our life where we get pulled away from our schedules, but healthy eating doesn't have to be one of them.

I start physical therapy omTuesdat for tendinitis in my elbow, no idea how I got it and a torn meniscus I got when I fell roller skating. I tried to ignore them both for as long as I could and continue to workout, but the pain finally won out. I feel very frustrated at not being able to at least continue the minimum exercise I was doing.
