singing burns calories, so why not log it somehow?

my husband is a musician and singer and I am a singer too. Def using a lot of energy and when brathing right a lot of muscle power. Is there any way to calculate calories burned ? Might sound crazy I know but I am constantly singing so thought I'd ask.

If it's something you do on a regular basis - you're not really working yourself any more than usual - so I think that's stretching it just a bit. If you actually plan on logging singing as exercise, I think you might have a little bit of a hard time losing weight, but I'm no expert - just my personal opinion.0

I agree. It sounds like it's something that falls under your "normal daily activity" not exercise.0 -

Yes, I agree. Now if someone like me started taking vocal lessons tomorrow, that would be different. I was doing diaphragm exercises with my sister and it really is a work out when you're new to it, my abs were sore!0 -

It is on there. Go to activity calculator, put in your weight, time singing and enter. It will tell you how many and just log it in. You can make up your own slot for it.0 -
in my opinion....this would be something that you would account for in your normal 'daily activity level'. i wouldn't log it as extra calories as in a workout... but again, just my opinion. what about those who talk - a LOT?0

I understand what you mean, I am a musician too. You really do elevate your energy level when performing. But you have to take that into account when setting your daily activity like others have said. My mailman doesn't set his acct to lightly active AND log his walking to the mailboxes, he just sets his BMR (basal metabolic rate) to ACTIVE and only logs activity which elevates his heart rate.
I haul gear, setup the PA and tear it down, load and unload etc 3 times a week AND perform at a level that breaks a sweat but don't log it because I am set up as lightly active. A family member of mine who is a stay at home mother of a 3.5 year old girl set her acct up as ACTIVE and then she logs everything that is not sitting on couch and can't understand why she hasn't lost an inch in 5 weeks....go figure!0 -

Unless she's running around all day long that's ridiculous. I'm a SAHM with two kids (3yrs & 19mos) and I'm only at lightly active. There's a lot of cleaning and getting up to change diapers, make snacks, etc. but there's also a lot of sitting around. There's only so much to do in a day. Or maybe I'm just lazy...0 -

I prefer to err on the other side and set mine up as so it lowers my BMR and any activity I do will only help my status.!!!
