I have been doing really well with watching what I eat and exercising every couple of days however over a week ago I pulled something in my ankle......it was so painful that I could even walk properly so I decidied that letting it have a rest was the best idea. So I havent done anything until today as I thought it would be ok and it was when I was doing it but now I am in real pain.......people I know have told me to push through the pain as it will get better when I get stronger......I just dont know......I feel like I should give it a rest but I know my diet and weight loss will be effected.......what should i do???? Work through the pain or leave it until it is really better??

do not push through the pain if it hurts this much. however, what kind of rest have you done? an injury like that sometimes needs to be walked on a little to get it moving. its like when you wake up stiff after a long night of sleeping, and you need to shake it out. tape it up if you haven't, and walk on it. if the pain continues to persist, go see a doctor. they'll send you for an xray.
your weight loss is 80% nutrition, so i wouldn't worry too much about not losing weight as long as you are eating right.0 -
people told me to push through and exercise when i was in massive massive pain from my ankle, could not even walk..
turns out i tore two ligaments and snapped one, please get this checked out by a dr... my ankle still plays up sometimes (i did the injury in feb) because i would not let it heal properly.
and if you really want to exercise, you can always do upper body workouts, you can do the elliptical (be careful getting on/off), stationary bike.
hope it's okay0 -
I recommend seeing your doctor for his/her opinion.
But secondly, I broke my leg this year and was in a cast for 12 weeks. When the cast came off I was in such pain that I often would cry just from walking on an uneven surface. I'd finally had enough and knew that my ankle needed to be worked. Since ligaments and tendons were ruptured my ankle was really tight after they healed....I started out on the elliptical every night for a few minutes and eventually the pain went away. It just needed to be worked.
Good luck!0 -
I have rested a little but I have two kids and I work full time oh and studying so am on the go quite a lot, I havent strapped it up but think I will and if it does carry on I will go and see the doc, I just didnt want to seem like a bid old baby!! lol.
Think the nutrition thing is my problem though...lol...thats what got me into this mess in the first place, but I'm gonna keep focused and keep going....0 -

If you're struggling to walk on it - I'd seriously suggest that you get it checked out. It could be worse or nothing, but at least you'll know by a trained professional. I wish I'd listened to someone about getting my aching knee checked out years ago, only to push it a week later playing sports and ended up ripping my knee ligaments and putting me out of action for almost 6 months - sometimes a quick trip to the Drs helps...0

See a doctor to get a professional opinion first just in case you have done some damage. If the doctor gives you the go-ahead then start slowly. Pain is our body's way of warning us that something is wrong. It seems illogical to work through actual pain like that. General aches and pains often benefit from exercise but a specific pain like that is usually a warning. You might be sent for physio if you need it and they will be able to recommend specific exercises to help. When your ankle is ready take it slowly so that you don't damage it again while it is still weak. I hope it's better soon0

I would go to a Doctor and get his opinion.0

I'll push through soreness or an ache, but NOT pain. If any part of your body is screaming "STOP!" listen to it.0
