Killer Thanksgiving

I cut way back on what I normally eat on Thanksgiving and the calories were still unreal. Don't even want to think about what I used to eat. Planned to splurge anyway. Put in some extra exercise earlier this week and had our annual hunting trip on Friday that helped burn on off some of the mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. I still need to burn off the apple pie, pecan pie and brownies.

I decided I was not going to worry about the calories for the holidays and just enjoy. Any weight I gain will just be a temporary setback. I don't plan to every go back to the way I was eating, but wasn't going to scold myself for being bad. Plan to do the same for Christmas.

I've had family in town that includes Chef son-in-law!! Constant delicious food and a special anniversary dinner for us tonight.....oy vey!! I have been ramping up the exercise and I know that things will get back to normal on Tuesday. The good thing is that the muscle mass I have built with the training I am doing burns calories at a faster rate :-) We will all get through the holidays, but they are a part of life and we can make some better choices now! Good luck on your journey!!

Don't worry about it, it's just one day. I didn't scrimp at all on Thanksgiving, ate whatever I wanted including a slice each of chocolate cake and rum cake (mmmm rum cake). Kept up with my workouts all week and went back to my normal eating on Friday, and when I got on the scale yesterday morning I was the same weight I was on Wednesday.

Holidays are about a dozen or so days out of one year. If you can stay on track the other 350+ days then you don't have to worry about indulging yourself on those special days. Just get back to your normal exercise and eating routine and you will be fine.

I agree Thanksgiving and Christmas is speciall with Family and friends. There is not one thing that is cooked that I would say is healthy on them days. I looked forward to it I worked out harder, so if it sets me back a day or two on my goals who cares. I didn't get this way over night. and will not reach my goal over night.

Haha I gained 3 lbs the day after Thanksgiving but lost it by this morning so it was prob just the food and my legs needed the extra calories/protein - I could barely run 4.2 miles on Thanksgiving day because my legs were damn tired but last night I did my longest run ever (9.4) and I attribute it to my muscles recovering fast from Thanksgiving :).
