Two different stories

Hi all, I am still new to this site, but after my work out on the Wii (free run) I came to input the workout. The Wii told me that I burned 330 calories, where the site only says 161. Which one do I believe? Have I been fold by the Wii all this time?

the wii may be closer, but your best bet is to buy a HRM with chest strap..the stuff on here tends to be low quite often..good luck

The database of exercise calories burned is not perfect... but I've found it to be HIGH many times. I've hardly found it to be low. The honest bet is a HRM but you can search the internet for other sites, medical sites, that have a rough caloric burn for the type of workout you were doing and then take an average.

I work out on my treadmill and have learned that they are off by about 25%. So, one thing I figured out about my treadmill is...since it does not provide me an option to input my weight that the calories burned is basing on that of a person who weighs about 150 lbs.

I had been thinking that my 100 minute workouts were burning 1400 calories when in fact they were only burning 915 calories. I found my information through this website http://42.195km.net/e/treadsim/ main site: http://42.195km.net/e/

This site has been the only one I was able to find that had anything allowing you to enter your weight for the WII http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/calories_burned.asp?exercise=231

My personal suggestion is to use the calculation with the smaller number...if it is wrong and you are actually burning more calories but documenting less that will not hurt your weight loss but help it along!

Thanks you! this seems the most logical as i dont have the means to get a HRM... thanks to all the posted tho!
