How do you know when to up calories. My "goal" according to this site is 1200 calories + whatever I eat in exercise. I am going to be around 1200 calories (with no exercise today---rest day) but I stil fel sooo hungry. I don't want my body to go into starvation mode and lose muscle....I am 5'1 and when I woke up this morning I weighed 134.4...

Personally after I lost 10% (went from 190 to 170, 20 lbs is about 10% of my starting weight), I increased from 1200 to 1600, and am doing this for one month, then will likely go to 1400 calories. I think each time you lose 10% of your weight it is good to maintain for a bit to get adjusted to your new weight, then re-evaluate. Just my personal opinion.
I think if you started at 140 (based on your current weight and how much you've lost), you should reevaluate your calorie intake at 126 lbs. I think other people may say more frequently though.0
