Strength training/lifting question

Options
My workout routine consists of:

3x a week running (45 mins- sometimes interval running)
5x a week I do a different workout dvd that includes hand weights (like Ripped in 30 or the focused Turbo Fire videos for upper/lower body). I switch it up so I am not overworking any muscles.

I think videos like Jillian and Turbo Fire will help to tone me up because of the weights, and that's all I really care about.

I have heard a lot about strength training and lifting weights as being important in your workout routine.

Do I need to add in doing weights at the gym, or will the free weights in circuit training be enough for me? I just wonder if there are other benefits of lifting weights I'm not aware of.

Thanks

I wouldn't add any more than that. Plus it is ideal to take a day off between the strength training workouts so your muscles have time to recoup and be ready for the next workout. I can't do strength 4 days in a row because I am so sore and I don't get a good workout.

I suggest doing cardio 5-6 days a week and strength every other day.
