This week started off well...and then it was my birthday..and we went and ate pizza hut.

Then, i had TWO thanksgivings this week..plus each one had a "birthday' at it too..so more cake!

and between all this, hosting my first thanksgiving, i haven't even exercised since wednesday. :( My body is shutting down and starting to feel crappy. I have been trying to eat smaller portions and not go overboard with dinners..but my whole healthy eating diet/exercise has gone down the tubes the last 4 days! Not to mention it is "that time..."

Any encouragement? Right now I'm pretty bummed at myself for the last 4 days. Hoping for a better start tomorrow...

I understand what you mean. I let myself go for Thankgiving and due to leftover desserts at work, I was bad Friday and Saturday as well. I was going to start today and I stayed within my calories, but my sodium intake is really high today, so I know the scale will reflect that tomorrow. All I can say is both of us start fresh tomorrow. While I have been continuing my exercise, my eating was bad. Tomorrow, hopefully there all be no desserts at work to tempt me and I can stick to my plan.
  • Birthdays and holidays are hard for everyone -- I mean, who doesn't want to be able to splurge a little and enjoy all the yummy food?
A few days aren't enough to throw you completely off track unless you let them. Just jump back into it!

The difference between the old you and the new you is that you won't let a short setback make you feel like a failure and allow you to just give up completely. You just say, "Well, that wasn't so great, but I know I can do better and I will tomorrow!" And then you do.

You're still in control! Do it!

Just start over tomorrow and quit worrying about the damage already done...just don't do any more damage. Tomorrow is a new day and we all have those days. You can do this.

Don't let this get you down. Just get back at it this week. You have 4 weeks to get yourself ready for Christmas festivities! We have to realize that we are not going to eat perfectly every day for the rest of our lives and that is ok!!

I agree with everyone else. You are human, and life happens. Just jump back in and don't be so hard on yourself. What's done can't be undone, but you can control what you do the rest of today and tomorrow.

I wouldn't let it get you down. Look, you can't go back and change it so all you can do is accept it and move on. There is no sense in worrying about it, you will get back on track and move forward.

Don't give up. Never give up. It has taken you a lifetime to become who you are, and it will take a LIFETIME of better decisions to become a healthier you. Giving up is NOT AN OPTION. You had a bad day. You had a bad week. Don't let it turn into a bad month, or a bad year. Brush it off. Get up tomorrow and make better decisions. You feel crappy right now. REMEMBER THAT FEELING. Your body feels great when you make great decisions. It feels horrible when you make poor decisions. SO MAKE BETTER CHOICES. Tomorrow is a new day!! You had a great holiday! NOW MOVE ON!!!!!

It's a BRAND NEW WEEK! Can't change the choices from last week, but you CAN learn from them. March on knowing you won't make the same mistake twice. It's about a process NOT perfection! (HUGS)
  • lets say you went over by 4000 calories which is way too generous anyway...you can burn that off in less than a week... dont worry

You might feel like you totally messed up these last 4 days, but, think about it: 4 days is nothing! So what if you fell off the wagon a bit? 4 days isn't going to make a difference in the long run. So just turn it around, get 100% back on your plan. You can undo whatever you did in those 4 days, no problem. :)

    You can do it!!

This sort of thing is going to happen throughout life. Thanksgivings and birthday parties are here to stay. BUT... the important thing is where your focus is. Maybe you will manage just a slice of cake or a moderate plate at Thanksgiving, but when you slip, just get back to the exercise, vegetables and whatever it is you're doing that is working for you, ASAP. :) Getting healthy is a lengthy learning process. The important thing is to not begin feeling hopeless and like your health isn't actually important enough to work for. Because IT IS!

Hey, that's life. It sounds like you ate way more than you needed this week - but that's finished now and you are only wasting time in feeling down about it.
It would be much more productive to put that energy into planning healthy meals and exercise for next week.
    Go for it!
  • Let it be water under the bridge. Makes no sense to dwell on it because you can't un-do it no matter what.
  • Thanks guys! You are all very encouraging! :)

So thankful for this community! :)
