I have stage 2 kidney disease and struggle with high uric acid. My doctor encourages low sodium and minimal animal meats. I've never had gout but doctor says that having gout can cause strain to my kidneys. I still wanna lose another 30-40 lbs and want to increase muscle strength/mass. The doctor says to stay away from protein supplements including amino acids. I have high blood pressure and cholesterol also and taking meds for that. Anyone in a similar situation? I'm so tempted to try intermittent fasting but worried about the kidney strains.

    I sent you a message.
Good luck, I'm glad you're not on dialysis yet, keep it up!

no.. but kidney stones... was told to limit alot of meat.. so I am semi vegetarian now.. no sweet breads and things with purines** I eat a fully vegetarian meal evvery other night now and feel much better!! drink lots of water and add a slice of lemon to help the kidneys with cleaning.

I'm a physician who has Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and takes meds for high blood pressure. I hope that one of your doctors has told you that the progression of CKD can be arrested, even CKD as advanced as Stage 3, as long as the initial cause of the CKD is removed. For example, my CKD was caused by a medicine that I no longer take and my high blood pressure is well controlled by meds. In addition to discontinuing the source of the kidney damage, I'm trying to get started on the diet recommended by most kidney specialists. I find the diet extremely challenging; however, the prospect of avoiding dialysis or needing a transplant through this diet has been validated scientifically and I find it to be quite motivating. Just for the record, the above is my story, not medical advice. Good luck to you!
