can someone who read the previous post tell me which of the follwing rules were violated?
"Do not attack/slam/insult other users."

"No political or religious topics, as we've found those tend to lead to some heated arguments. If you want to discuss politics or religion, there are plenty of other places on the internet for that - just google it."

"No explicit, sexual, offensive, insulting or vulgar content or language. The MyFitnessPal forums are PG-13."

"No spam"

I just want clarification as to what is considered offensive? I find the judgment of these topics rather ambiguous, and open-ended. If it is up to one person or does someone have to complain to have a topic removed? This is a difficult topic as I am sure most of you could agree, as you all know what offends one person may not offend others, which raises the question where do you draw the line? Where do you say enough political correctness, and who is responsible for deciding this?

I do not want to solicit an argument, rather a discussion, because I do not understand the regulating guidelines set forth for this site.

thank you for your time

I don't understand why the "mother of 8" thread was locked either.

All up to Mike's discretion I guess.

    I wonder sometimes too.

I think it's normal for intelligent people to discuss current events like the mother of 8 issue. I'm not sure what the problem there was. I think we all agree to disagree when it comes to certain things.

    Oh well!! :ohwell:

Dingleberry talk could be consider offensive.

This is what i do not understand, how could dingleberry be offensive? 100% of the WORLDS population has hair down there (unless artificially removed)... so it does not single anyone out... and how could a word refereing to something that 100% of the worlds population had at one point in their life offend anyone... maybe I am just not easily offended and there are people out there who are offended much quicker? maybe... i just did not think that anything in there would have been questioned.

and YES shannon, I agree with you the mother of 8 thread... whats up with that?

Maybe when a group of people get together to pick on someone (in a manner that's very like virtual bullying) they don't personally know (or do personally know) that kind of thing should be shut down.

But then I don't understand why the let's all hate Vicki threads were allowed to thrive. ):

I think there is a lesson to be learned here
You can't be perfect to everyone
be yourself, act how you want to while being respectful
and if people dont like it so be it
if a thread gets pulled, then its unfortunate.

There are always a group of spoilsports, partypoopers and watchdogs out there to ruin a good time or halt what most enjoy, but since they dont FEEL included, they want to end it, whether they are excluded or not.

    * If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater his effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders - What would you tell him?

I…don't know. What…could he do? What would you tell him?

    To shrug.

Interesting question as I have seen words posted that to one may be offensive and to another not even a thought.
Guess it can be a difficult tight rope to walk.

PS.....if Max says it then most likely it will be offensive.

Even though I'm not sure which thread was removed in the first place, I think that there is one phrase I've always said that applies... "You can't make EVERYONE happy." There will always be that 1% who will disagree, or get offended, or find something that they consider a "sensitive" issue. That being said, I guess I would just use your best judgement-that's really all you CAN do.

And by the way... HiandTri, I've always found your comments to be funny-they usually crack me up and I haven't seen anything that I would consider offensive... Maybe someone was having a bad day?

If you are talking about the letter your friend wrote or didn't write, I thought it was halarious!! I wasn't nor did I see anything offensive in it, but others might. I'm no easily offended any way. No use crying over spilled milk!! At least those of us who saw it and liked it got the pleasure of it while it was there! Live and learn!

Ohhh... I noticed your post this morning... I didn't know it was gone.
I skimmed it.... got a few chuckles out of it...went on with life.

Any topic on here is fair game to be liked or disliked....
Since we aren't the same and don't think or feel the same about all topics discussed, it's logical to assume that people will be offended. However, I don't think it's fair to consider people who have different views/opinions/senses of humor as "spoilsports, partypoopers and watchdogs," just because what they find offensive is something different.

Some people will find certain posts hilarious....
Some will find those same posts disgusting....
It's a thin line.... not everyone will be happy all the time with decisions (like locking posts or deleting them). That's not really our call to make and I've been around long enough to see some interesting ones locked down and pondered on why.... When I wandered through... I could see why and where it got out of hand....
Since it's a public forum, we really shouldn't TRY to piss each other off (but sometimes we do....sometimes even on purpose).... or offend each other.

I hear it all the time, "We are grown ups.... we can agree to disagree...." BUT....not everyone believes that either.

As I said, I got a chuckle out of it....obviously...enough "someone elses" did not find it so.

all I know is it was no worse than my Bedgasm post and that is still around... floating amongst the shadows... but yes, I agree with you from the little I know about Mike he sounds like a very nice guy, which brings me to the conclusion that someone complained about my thread, which is absolutley fine, its their rite to complain, my grandfather, two uncles, and 3 cousins have died protecting that right and I will be damned if i will tell someone they dont have it...

but i think there are better ways in which to go about it, or at least give someone the option to correct what the other feels is inappropriot.

I agree. I think if someone has a problem with a post, they should go to the original poster first or just don't read the post. I didn't really care for the post but I didn't have to continue reading it either. (Although I'll admit I did.) :embarassed:

Sadly, many fear altercations and to go to the direct source would be rough for them... Resulting in them just tolerating it or leaving entirely. :ohwell:
    Which would be sad.
