Eating protein and losing inches.....not just pounds!

Many people lose inches but don't see the scale drop. This is a somewhat easy explanation of muscle being more dense.

I'm seeing that I am dropping pounds but not losing inches. Presumably some is water weight, but with my drop in protein intake and increased sugars, I'm wondering if I'm actually losing muscle....?..!

I've eaten protein for the purpose of keeping me sustained with fewer calories. With my stress as skyrocketed as it is, my normal goal of 1200-1400 is met, but proteins (difficult to get as a vegetarian) are very low, while sugar (protein bars, energy drinks, stuff in the office) are at a high!

I don't need any comment about what's happening. It is what it is, and I've been successful enough to go from 170-135....
But does this make sense? Am I losing muscle? Will adding more protein make a huge difference?

If you've lost 35lbs and not a single inch then that's very confusing. It's worth noting that the energy required to use muscle as energy is around 5 times higher than fat so the body has to be fairly desperate to plumb those waters, although, without pushing weights I'd expect to lose some muscle while on a diet... not 35lbs though.

    I'm intrigued

I check my inches every so often and they have not changed either. I have lost 23 lbs and my pants still fit the EXACT same as before. My face hasn't changed and even my neck is the same as the first time I measured it ( at about a 10lb loss) My shirts fit better though as do dresses. So I think that you may be loosing the weight , jsut not from the areas you are measureinng ( if that makes sense) Have you noticed any other changes in your body? I have also added weights to my routine. It will help tone and ultimately help with inches :) Good luck
