Losing too quickly?

Hi. I've been on here for a little more than two weeks now. I'm seeing results but I'm starting to worry that I've lost a little too much weight in a short amount of time. I'm not overweight, I'm 5'8 and I started out at about 145 lbs, which should mean that I shouldn't be able to lose weight very quickly. Today, as I said a little over two weeks later, I'm 138.4 lbs. It's nothing hysterical but I set my goal to lose about 1 lb a week and now I've lost about 3. So should I set my calorie goal a little higher? It's at 1490 now.

Lot's of people find they lose a lot when they start out, i lost 8lb in my first week, but it should settle down after a few weeks.
  • When I first started I dropped at least 8 pounds in my first couple of weeks, its all your top fat and water weight going away. I wouldnt worry too much, it will slow down (sadly, grr) as your body gets used to its new diet

That's great to hear! I was just thinking, since I wasn't overweight before and that's usually the condition where you're able to drop the most in a short time. But I hope it settles at about 1 lb per week, cos I don't want to lose a lot of muscle weight which I think will happen if I keep dropping at this pace.

As other have said, you usually lose more in the beginning, don't worry! If you keep losing at that pace, you can always up your calories in 2 weeks. Congrats on the work done so far!
  • Keep your protein levels up and you wont loose any muscle, its greatly helps out with toning!
