I have been doing strenght training for the last 3months. Last week i noticed that when i do cardio, it is easier to have a higher pulse and to keep it elevated. I know that i really stepped back on cardio so i might not be as ´´fit´´ as i was before but i was wondering if doing heavy strenght training and eating at a surplus would make me burn more calories when doing cardio?

I'm pretty sure that more muscle helps you to burn calories more effectively.

Exactly this.... all those lunges and squats in NROL.. pay off big time you are out running!

The denser muscles you create doing strength training do burn more cals not only during cardio, but throughout the day. The better HR numbers are a result of your system having to expand the structure, (capillaries to support the new tissue created from all forms of your excercise, and strength training makes your arteries and veins expand during the effort so you are moving your blood through what is essentially a bigger pipe, makes the pressure go down, This is a simple explanation that I'm sure someone will come along and expand upon (they always do) but essentially that's how the process works. Great Job Kiddo keep it up!

Left out one thing, "eating at a surplus" A key element when you're doing strength traing is to make sure you get enough protein so your system has the tools to build more muscle fibers. Try to stay well within 10% of your daily Goal and a bit over is no harm.
