You need to wrap the link in [ img] and [ /img] or copy
past the text from the box that you get from here (probably
more info than you need, but just incase someone else is
still working on figuring out the tickers):

    Go this link:
    http://www.tickerfactory.com/ezticker/ticker_designer.php?type=8

    and you see this:
    1-ticker.PNG

    then enter information as follows:
    (1) the password that you set up when you configured the ticker
    (2) add miles as needed, then
    (3) select "Next"

Then copy/paste the bbCode from here (the text
    inside the red oval):

Report from the 5K race, I did improve on my 2011 time and I finished at 26:41 (according to my Garmin watch - and the finish time displayed at the finish line was a few seconds higher at 26:48). I did improve on my 2011 best 5K time, which I am super excited about  :drinker:

BUT the organizers 'lost' the time of several of the participants and that included my time :grumble: several participants lined up as the award where distributed because they noticed they had faster times than the people that placed in their respective age group.

I talked to a woman in the group than lined up, she was in the in the next age group of mine (50-55) and she finished in 24:30 minutes, and she would have placed 1st in her age group if they had not lost her finish time :noway: THey had no record of me finishing (or her). First time this has ever happened, but I guess I will be prepared if it happens again.

Congrats on the PB. Impressive time.

How was the event timed? Our running club puts on a lot of races and we don't have chip timing. We have struggled with problems like this before. I can imagine how upsetting it must be to not have a recorded time.

They used RFID, where the tag was on the bib, and the receiver at the finish line was on the ground. I am not sure where the problem occurred - they either lost the recording while processing the data/results or they did not receive the signal from the tag at the finish time. I think the most likely scenario is they lost the result while handling the data, BUT then I was surprised that the tag was on the bib instead of on the shoe placing it far from the receiver..... (the tag is zapped with - a radio wave - to make it transmit its data - and perhaps the tag was out of range).

They did have us write our info down so they may go back and make corrections.

*** Here is the spreadsheet for the first check point week 0 (not a complete week, so I am
calling it week 0 ) :glasses:

    2011-Dec-Check.PNG
    2011-Dec-Trophy.PNG

So far, 115 miles and 6% towards our goal! I also added a weekly mileage columns,
so that we can keep track of how we are doing each week). Each cell is to the closest whole number, so if you have fraction of miles it is still there, just not displayed). (:

The red W3 column will contain our total mileage for the month!

    The group link is here:

If you like to receive an email with a weekly check-in reminder (once weekly), please send me a MFP message with your email address (I can easily send a group reminder, if you like one).

I just got an email from the race organizers with the results - and I am listed now - placed 2nd in my age group and 74th overall - there were over 500 participants. Happy!! I am OK to have missed out on the trophy. Whoohooooo! YAY!

I am signing up for a 5K race on the 17th of December - I asked a friend that I met at a race to join me and we will both run - she is faster than I am, but hopefully when I get in better shape I will catch up with her.

a half marathon in march is also on the horizon.

    5 miles addes today

  • haha - Sounds good Cooriander! Thats about right - I ran 4.5 of them this morning so it should be week 2!

BTW- I was looking at your post about the 5K Saturday. I have been WAITING for the official times from mine to post (there were 4,000 participants so a placement is a long shot but still I'd like to see where I fall in my age group!)- but as I was scouring the website I noticed that it had instructions to peel the chip OFF the back of the number, stick it to your shoelaces before running! I have NEVER seen/been told to/done that, I just pin the number on with the chip still on the back and go!

I am a little disappointed, you had to pay $5 extra to be timed, but the results aren't anywhere! We'll see, if or when they post, if my time shows up!
