Dating Disasters?
Hey all -- I'm working on a project and thought I'd reach out to my MFP community to see if you can help!! I need dating stories that are disasters that you can now laugh at. Preferably these would be stories about a first date...blind dates and/or online dates would be best!! I wouldn't attribute to you of course. If you are brave enough, I'd love to see your responses...or feel free to shoot me an email!
So here's mine: Second date with an Iranian-American who was about 3 inches shorter than me. The conversation is stilted and out of the blue he tells me "you're definitely my type." Now I know what he means but I play dumb..."what, a redhead?" He responds, "My friends call me a chubby chaser." Then gives me a look. I told him that in the future he may consider not telling the chubby he's chasing that he is looking to catch her. Then I got up and left. Pretty funny now.

This thread has some great stories.

I know I put a few of mine in there. But I'm sure people won't mind a new thread about it. Somehow people never tire of telling their dating horror stories!0 -
Sorry but, I had to laugh at the chubby chaser comment. who the hell would say that on a date!? Anyway.... I wish I had a story to share. Good luck with your project! :bigsmile:0

Hey thanks for the earlier thread! I'm sure it's a gold mine. Looking now! And about the chubby chaser - it's just hysterical now. Love to bring it up.0

One guy was so excited to take me out to dinner, could not stop talking about how much he loved the restaurant we were going to. I was a bit wary because he was taking me to an Ethiopian restaurant and I had no idea what to expect. I was even more alarmed when we pulled up to a storefront in a dingy strip mall - definitely not a place that looked good. On the way in he tells me that the place was once closed by the health department but that they've fixed the problems and are open again.
Needless to say, I didn't try Ethiopian food that night (or any time since)...0 -
Ahhh! What a jerk! I love your response, though.
I had a first (and last) date with a guy in high school who was two years older. He asked me to go on a date with him and I kinda liked him so we planned one for that weekend. He picked me up and took me to TGIFridays, would pick up the sugar packets that they have there with the conversation started questions on them, and he would read the quesiton, give his answer, and then grab the next one and read it and answer - didn't ever actually ask ME any of them. Hahaha, and he kept calling it a date, and then when the check came, he told me how much was for my meal - I literally laughed out loud because we were both kind of sarcastic people and I thought he was just being funny. He wasn't. I'm totally fine with paying for my own stuff, but I'm kind of old fashion when it comes to a first date - at least pay for the first date, please! Then, he picked out a movie for us to go to (and yes, I paid for my own ticket). It was the Butterfly Effect. I was wearing a jean jacket, and when we sat down, he said he was cold and asked if he could wear my jacket. He was being serious. I said no. Then, when there was brief nudity in the movie, he turned to me and said "nudity, now it's a good movie". That was the end of our date.
But man, is it funny to tell that story now0 -
I was up in Canada visiting my sister when one of my friends asked me on a date. I told him I was a little sick with a cold and he just came over uninvited (I looked like death!) and he asked to take me to dinner and a movie on the spot... I went, looking like crap, and before anything we stopped at a grocery store so we could pick up cold medicine.. lmao... and I had to pay for it after he picked out dozens of things that "work"... I paid for half my meal (which he ordered for me!). Like jeez, if your'e gonna try to order for me at least pay for it! lol and we went to the movies and I paid for my ticket on toonie tuesday... he couldn't even pay for my flippin 2 dollar ticket!! LOL that's not the end of it, on our way to leave, his sister's car didn't start up!! I had to call my sister to come pick me up.. AND drop him off... needless to say, we never went on another date.. LOL0

What is it with TGIFridays and Applebees? I'm avoiding those places from now on.0
