Bistro Box!

Looking for a quick, healthy lunch on the go for under 400 calories?

For 350 calories I am eating a Starbucks Bistro Box as we speak. Yes, I know it is a chain. Yes, I know I could have made it myself. But how long would it have taken me? Chopping a wide variety of veggies. Cooking the noodles. Looking for a dark chocolate square for dessert. Trying to cut my cucumbers extra thin for the cuke salad. Cooking, chopping and marinating my tofu.

I was torn between a little lunch place and getting something quick on my way to the bank during my lunch break. Starbucks won because I realized I could also get a 0 calorie antioxidant-packed iced green tea. (I don't do fake sugars).

I also bring my lunch *every* day so this was a treat.

For 350 calories that allow you to 'eat the rainbow' (eating a ton of veggie colors)....check it out!

Having it once in a while is just fine. Eating it everyday isn't. Just watch out for sodium in those things.

If you have a swap for another 350 calorie lunch I'd love to hear! I know that Amy's organics typically score a B+ on nutrition sites because you can buy them low sodium and they are organic. :)

Good for you! I can totally appreciate something like that once in a while, too. Sometimes it's nice to have a convenient, prepared meal on the go like that. Props to Starbucks (never thought I'd say that) for changing their menu to add some health-conscious items and smaller serving sizes. I still loooove that I can order a "short" 8 oz drink instead of a "tall" 12 oz one.

    350 11 50 6 15

    350 calories
    11 g fat
    6 fiber
    15 protein

    40% of daily sodium: http://www.snack-girl.com/snack/starbucks-bistro-box/

But, I typically eat a low sodium diet so I'm not concerned

Thanks! Check out http://www.snack-girl.com/snack/starbucks-bistro-box/ for the full review. It's a once in a while thing and a heck of a lot better than Wendys, McDonalds, Panera Bread....
