Alright, I started the c25k program awhile ago and ended up not making it past week 4 due to it started getting colder out and I was being a baby and just never picked it back up... WELL

I haven't been consistently running since then but still exercising. Then I participated in the annual Turkey Trot in my area. I did the walking version of it and that was 2 miles... well we were waiting for the runners to finish coming in I noticed there was ELDERLY men and women running this 5k!!!! I began to tell myself that there is NO REASON i shouldnt be out there!!

So without hesitation I signed up for the Jingle Bell Run... with no time to train...

it is this Saturday already and is about 3 miles. Do you think this is bad for me to just jump into?

I am really nervous I won't make it to the finish line and ill let myself down if I have to walk at all... but then I remind myself that I haven't had time to train for it so that is normal if I am tired...

Just wondering :)

You shouldn't feel bad if you can't run the entire 3 miles. It is awesome that you signed up for it. Just try your best and run in intervals don't try to over do. You can do it!!!!

When i started i could not run 5 minutes without stopping to walk. about a 1-1/2 years and ~55lbs later i am sub 24:00 with my next goal of sub 23:00. Stick to it and keep goals. Print your time and hang it on the fridge! use it as motivation to do a little better each time. after this one train for 4-6 weeks before your next one. keep terrain, weather etc.. in mind. you may run a slower time but it may be a tougher race so dont let that be a set back. use everything as motivation (like the old folks in the race you described) and refer to it to keep you pumped before and during your training. good luck!
  • There's no reason you shouldn't try. Even if you can't run/jog the entire thing you can always walk the rest of the way, and there's no shame in that as long as you finish.
