I have noticed a huge numbers of teen on lately and even odder they are posting in the forms. Admiting their age. It is a clear violation of the terms of service to be under 18. I wish they could be here but the reallity is they are not allowed. Today I saw a teen girl who was clearly under wait, I discovered this by looking at pictures she had. Some were just wrong bordering on child porn.

I've reported a few lately, too. I feel bad for reporting them (thus most likely getting their accounts closed/deleted) but I do feel that alot of what is posted in the forums isn't necessarily appropriate for young users.0

Report them. It's just wrong that they come on here and interact with adults without the adults knowing that they're kids.0

I agree with you. I can't say anything, I am probably on the younger end of the MFP Users, but I would have to say that the website is 18+ for a Reason....0

What EEG said...I thoroughly enjoy reporting the little rascals...0

I'm uncomfortable with it, and I report it.0

I disagree with the limit on age. Block their ability to use the forums but allow them to use the website. I was an overweight teen, I would have loved to have had something like this website 17 years ago!0

In addition to the forums being an inappropriate places for those under 18, there are also medical reasons why teens should not be on MFP. Teens are still growing and have very different caloric needs. If a teen is overweight, they should be medically supervised to lose weight without compromising their physical growth. Once someone reaches adulthood and stops growing, the guidelines on MFP are fine. My daughter is 12 and wants to join MFP, and I've told her no. She is not overweight and does not need to be worrying about calories. I'm teaching her to eat more healthy foods and to exercise, but she does NOT need to count calories at her age. She is still growing and needs the additional calories.0

Thank you for bringing this up. I think some of my friends on here are under 18. But even creepier, they seem to have much older men interacting with them who HAVE to know these girls are underage, and are encouraging about daily diaries that are so obviously too low. What do I do, report individual profiles?0

Me too but I would have abused it's use. Had A LOT of issues with eating and would have most likely done more harm than good.0 -

i have the maturity of a junior high school kid. does that count? LOL
fart! boobies! LMAO!0 -
I agree with some of the posts that the calorie counting portion of it should be available but the forum/social network-esque portion of it shouldn't be. And the pictures bordering on Child pornography, I think there should have been a "call your mother" option for that...0

what is even scarier than them participating in the forums? the private friending that might get out of hand...they are not adults0

There is an age limit for a reason. I understand there are some who really need to be on a program, however, they need to be monitored by a nutritionist who knows how to deal with obesity in youth. The only thing we can do is tell them we are going to report them, and hopefully they will get the appropriate help.
As for these kids taking half nude photos of themselves and putting them on the site, I don't quite know what to do about that one. If they were my children I would be taking everything away from them except for thier clothing bedding and food. That's after I snatched a knot in their backside.0 -

Um, I do hope this is a joke because I'm not far off from nineteen now.0 -

Which means your kids would probably never do it in the first place! Most parents do not carefully monitor what their kids are doing online. I'm about to curtail my daughter's time on the computer. She's getting where she spends all evening on it. She's playing harmless games (she's using my old laptop right next to me, so I can see what she's doing), but she's just spending so much time on it. She's not going to be happy with me for cutting her time back, but I'm not here to be her friend! She'll still be allowed to use it, but for a lot less time than she has been.0 -

I have seen them too, and the scary thing is the one's I've seen are way too thin and complaining that they need to eat less. They definitely borderline eating disorders. To me it's just sad that in our society young girls have to feel this way about themselves. On a side note, i actually knew a young mother who put her 4 year old daughter on a diet, 4 YEARS OLD I say let kids be kids (and yes, I am referring to the teens as well)0
