Strength Training - Cardio

Do you count your strength training in with your cardio for calorie burn?

    ABSOLUTELY! Just dont include it as cardio time, make it a separate entry as the calorie burn will be different.

    i used to logg it under cardio but even so its very bad way to estimate ur cals burned... i wore a HRM and i actuly burn 600-800cals more than MFP sais

    I do yes, but before I got my HRM I lowered the calories burned because as I lift heavy I have breaks during the extended sessions. After I got my HRM I accurately entered Calories that way... each session varied wildly so I am glad I got the HRM :)

    Yes I do, but I use a HRM for the burn - it's far more accurate and I end up burning at least twice as much as what MFP estimates :D

    Actually HRM's are a bad estimation for strength training since their equations rely on steady state cardio to estimate calories burned. and weight lifting is not. So in this case, it would be better to use MFP over an HRM.

    To OP:
    Just log it under cardio.. HRM's are great and all(I love mine!) but just not for weight lifting.

    Well i would tend to disagree about MFP be good for logging streght training,
    I did 30 mins of busting my *kitten* yesterday, sweat pouring off me.
    MFP said i burnt 60 cals...

    I don't have a HRM so find it a bit dodgy when estimating calories burned from strength.
    I don't think there's any accurate way for me.

    Try entering it again.. because that may have been an error in the website.

    I know for me, it reads about 200-300 for a half an hour of lifting.
  • How do you count it on MFP. I usually just place it under strength training but it doesn't increase my calories burn.

    In the Cardio section, there's an entry for "Strength training (weight lifting, weight training)."
