Just wondering, do any other girls have a problem with horrible menstrual-like cramps sometimes while running even though it's nowhere near that time of the month? I often get them so badly that i feel close to vomiting from the pain but within 5 minutes of finishing up the run i feel fine again. Anyone else? Or would you happen to know what causes it so i can prevent them?

I have this same issue but generally only when I run outside.

Recently I joined a gym and my solution is run 30 minutes on the treadmill and then finishing up cardio on the eliptical. Or I take cardio classes which never make me hurt! Maybe this would work for you too.

    Good Luck!

this actually happens to guys too!
you either are not drinking enough water while you are running AND/OR not breathing correctly.

i used to get this when i was not breathing correctly!

P.S. whilst we are all here, does anyone always feel the need to pee when on a run? :S
  • I experienced pretty severe cramping (started in my lower back and often continued down into my legs) when I first started running, it was awful! It was almost enough to make me quit...I tried drinking more water, eating more potassium rich foods, and worked on my breathing (my roommate at the time had run a few marathons, she was my coach essentially and told me to do all of these things). While these are all good habits to exercise whilst exercising :) Im not sure if any of it really helped with the cramps in the very beginning. Personally I feel it just takes the body time to adjust to a new workout routine. As time went on I experienced the cramping less and less. I have them occasionally, but its nowhere near "menstrual like" anymore. Keep at it girly it will get better, I promise!! :)
  • Thanks everyone! I may have to look at my breathing technique. Does anyone have any hints for this?
