Hello all!
Thought I'd try to do the community part.
I started trying to get fit three years ago when I was 22 and ~240lbs. I was in a really bad place in my life and felt like giving myself a do-over before do-overs were impossible.
I did a lot of reading and research and did mostly running for the first year. I moved into strength training towards the end of the first year and noticed a lot of really dramatic changes. I made some new friends who helped me along and gave me some tips and have had an all around great experience.
Today I'm 190. I've put on a lot of muscle mass which feels amazing. I've gone through three belts which is hilarious. Still trying to push to that 10% body fat.
I've kept realistic goals and a level head about this which has made the process very easy and stress free.
Funniest story about losing weight: When I first started I bought a shirt that was far too tight as a sort of thinspiration. "I will fit into this and wear it with pride!" I told myself. I, of course, never wore it because it was stupid tight and I eventually forgot about it. When I stumbled upon it earlier this year I put it on and it still didn't fit. It felt like wearing a parachute. Needless to say I won't be wearing it for a completely different reason :]
Keep the strength, all!
