Gift ideas for a 9-year old girl
Hi everyone,
My church prepares Christmas baskets and asks the parishioners who are willing to donate a gift. My family and I volunteered to buy a gift for a 9-year old girl, but we know NOTHING about her. Does anyone have suggestions as to what would make a great gift for most 9-year old girls? Thanks for your input!

My Daughter used this site to get ideas for her 10 year old. They do have some good ideas. Good luck.:drinker:0 -
The 9 year olds I know around here all love 'hello Kitty' and anything sparkly like a nice bag or maybe a nice tee x0

I have two 9 year old Grand-daughters! They LOVE craft kits - jewelry - Stuffed Animals! They are VERY easy to please  I intend to buy one a musical jewelry box this year0

My daughter just turned 10. She and her friends are into art supplies and craft kits. Littlest Petshop is still big for that age.0

My daughter will be 9 next week and she likes anything related to crafts. She likes to make things.....jewerly, scrapbooks, etc.. (Toy's R Us, Costco and Sam's Club all have different kits for "girly" craft ideas). Hope this helps.0

A big trend in my area are the long feathers and colored threads or strands of crystals you can tie into your hair.0

Books, a cool stuffed animal, those fun lip glosses, colorful socks, a blanket/throw, a necklace or bracelet, cool pens/markers and writing paper/puzzle books/journal/diary.... ahhh, to be a kid again!0

One of the best gifts for my daughter was a baking set. I bought small pans, spatulas, mixing bowl, measuring spoons, etc along with a kids cookbook and a few baking mixes (cookie & cake mixes, a few sprinkles, & decorations, etc.). It was very inexpensive to put together and a very much appreciated.0

I have a 9 year old daughter, and I agree that you can't go wrong with a jewelry making kit or something like that. Our daughter is passed the Hello Kitty stage, and her favorites right now are her American Girl dolls. Those are obviously too expensive for what you're doing, but they do make American Girl books that 9 year olds would love.0

My 9 year old daughter's Santa List this year was:
Figit (electronic singing alien doll gizmo)
PlayStation gift card to use for Little Big Planet costumes
Barrel of Monkies (she loves Toy Story)
Science Kit
Angry Birds items (Thin Ice board game, hat, stuffed Angry Birds that talk, etc.)
Magic Tricks Kit
Scrabble Flash0 -
One important thing to remember is that the gift(s) should be able to stand alone (meaning nothing that needs batteries, adult supervision, 2 or more players, special equipment, etc.) Since you can't gauge the home situation of the little girl or her exposure to things like popular TV characters, movies, video games, etc. it may be a good idea to go with things that are not too specific or trendy but more classic items that can be used for quite a while. (Is it obvious that I'm a social worker? lol)0

I agree with crafty stuff.
Craft stores will have age-appropriate jewelry making kits, or something like an unfinished picture or mirror frame, or birdhouse, or jewelry box, and some paint, brushes, glitter, gemstones, glue to make them one-of-a-kind. Sculpy clay is lots of fun, too.
And I'm realizing that I'd love the same gifts as a 9 year old girl. :blushing:0 -

Like I said... I'm a 9 year old girl! That exactly matches the HK undies I'm wearing right now!!!0 -
Ok - I burst out laughing when I saw this, but I don't think the lady organizing the Christmas basket will be impressed with me! Then again, it's anonymous...0 -
Forget the 9 yo, I want this lol.0
