P90X

I use to do P90X faithfully before I had surgery last year. Now my schedule is so jam packed with work and school, I don't have the time to work out 6 days a wk. I am starting slow by just doing the AB Ripper X every other day to try and get rid of this donut I'm carrying around for a stomach.
Anyone use P90X with counting calories? How is it working for you? Additional weightlss? Tips?

FYI, doing ab work will have no effect on losing stomach fat. You cannot spot reduce fat, your body loses from where it wants to lose it from, eventually you will lose it everywhere, but ab work will not help you lose it. Losing weight is 80% diet.
That being said I and many other MFPers have done P90X while counting calories. I would just suggest that you make sure you get enough fuel when you start the full program. P90X suggest the minimum caloric intake to be 1800, so if you eat the 1800 and burn an average of 400 cals/workout, it would be like having an MFP goal of 1400 (1800-400) and eating back your exercise cals. I would suggest starting this way and adjust after 3-4 weeks if it is not working for you.0 -
I've done two rounds of P90X at a calorie deficit using MFP...I set up the macros for the Fat Shredder (50P/30C/20F) and logged my food on MFP, but didn't strictly follow the P90X nutrition plan. I am now doing a P90X/Insanity Hybrid round and am following the Energy Booster (40P/40C/20F) Level II portion plan of the P90X nutrition plan and am following it to the letter and still logging on MFP for tracking purposes. So far, so good...0

I find that counting calories is very important while on P90X. You have to make sure you are getting enough nutrition. I wear a Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor and use that calculate my calories burned. Knowing what I burned makes it easier to hit my targets without bonking or running out of energy during the workouts.0
