So.,..I bought this program a while back, and then my husband left for deployment in Iraq, and I quickly fell off the exercise wagon. I was wondering if anyone has advice for what weights to start off with. I don't want to go out and blow a bunch of money on the adjustable weights if I am not going to like the program, so what should I start with? I have 5 lb. weights now, but that's it. Any insight you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

It would probably be more affordable for you to go purchase a set of resistance bands. You could get 2-3 different ones and that should do it for now. Then, if you really enjoy it, you could invest in some weights. I have one of the Chalene Extreme workouts and I believe she shows you how to do all the exercisese with resistance bands. I personally purchased mine from ebay. I got an entire set of 5 for about $15.0

Weights are sold by the pound, so you should be able to get a few without breaking the bank. I'd grab 8, 10 and 12 lb ones to start. That should cover a lot of the moves that you will do. They should be on sale at a lot of places with the holidays.0

Check Craigslist or yardsales... you usually find them for cheap.0

I am currenlty doing Chalean extreme myself, and at this point im able to life anywhere from 5-20lbs, you could always try using the resistance bands as well.....good luck, you will get awesome results!0

I've seen some adjustables for around $30. They are the kind with removable plates that you put on a bar.
I also understand that this program works with resistance bands.0 -
For that program, I used 5s, 8s, 10s and 15s.
For the first month and a half, I really only used the 5s and 8s.
I'd invest in those first & then as you need more, buy the different weights, instead of buying them all at once?0 -
For lower body moves, I use 25s, for arms I use 15s and for shoulders I use 8s..but the first month of it you'd want to go lighter..maybe 5, 8, and 10 or 15. The less expensive option would be to get a couple of resistance bands..maybe light and medium resistance.0

I've just bought some resistance bands for this programme. I got 5 bands, which claim to range from 10-50 lbs in resistance. I tried a bicep curl on I think the 30lb band and it was pretty tough! These were £12.99 from amazon.0
