Chinese food I hate you...

Husband really wanted chinese food really bad for dinner last night.
I am not a huge fan as it always makes me feel sick but about every 6 months we will order it and I forget. Then i eat it and feel awful. It fit into my calories for the day but man I regretted it instantly.

What foods do you regret eating right after you eat them?

  • Chinese food for me as well. The high levels of sodium make me feel bloated and gross.

What does it do to you? I have a friend who is allergic to MSG and feels awful after eating chinese--maybe that's your problem??

Ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant so it'll always make me feel icky but it's so gooooooood!

my husband has a bad time with MSG as well. He gets a rash on his cheeks and temple and feels bloated and poisoned.

We always request NO MSG! It makes a big difference for him. I thought it was all in his head but I've learned it's real.
  • anything after 6pm!!!! its always a slippery slope into an evening of munching
Chinese food often has that effect on me also, I think its the grease

Sweet foods are my downfall! Cake, cookies, chocolate, ice cream...anything really. I just can't help myself around it :blushing:

Chinese is one for me also, as is Garlic Bread and anything fried.
We go to a Seafood restaurant every Friday night and I usually get Broiled Shrimp. But every now and then I decide to get Fried Clam Strips, I just love them!, and after words I always feel so sick :(

Yep, Chinese is the worst for me as well. The place I go doesn't use MSG either. Even just having the "Chicken & Broccoli" with a bit of chicken fried rice makes me feel crappy. I don't know what they do to it, but after this last time we swore off Chinese. All this healthy eating makes a lot of things that we used to enjoy taste terrible now. :(

Also, most fried things do it to me now as well. Fast food too!
  • Oddly enough, I probably eat the healthiest foods when I go to Chinese, but I go to a buffet and get 90% vegetables.

If I had to pick, I'd probably say pizza gives me the worst "I shouldn't have had that" feeling. A close second is just a regular soda.

It's probably the MSG. In general greasy food makes me feel awful, I don't generally eat greasy food so I think my stomach is like "WTH is this! Get it out now!"

I can't have caffeine either. I have a stomach ulcer and caffeine makes me curl into a ball on the floor.

I have to laugh that chinese food makes so many people feel bad yet every once in a while, we all eat it. lol

Another vote here for Chinese food. Never used to be a problem but now that I'm all healthy I feel really crappy after I eat it! Still have it every once in a great while though, lol

Everytime I eat greasy food I get all this phlegm in my throat and cough and have to constantly clear my throat.
So for the most part I just try to avoid it.

Greasy foods were never really my issue though.
    It's more breads and chocolate.
