What keeps you motivated?

I've been on a great run with fitness and eating healthy. Sometimes I want to slip back into my old bad habits b/c it's easier to eat bad and not exercise. What keeps you all motivated to continue on a healthy path rather than go back to what you were?
For me I think of how I feel now vs then... that always helps to keep me from the downward spiral... could use more motivation though so let me know what you think!!

-Definitely the way I feel now/ & look now compared to the way I used to look.
-The way my clothes fit/or fitting into smaller sizes0 -
Looking better and having looser clothes are always a big motivator, but I think the best motivation is knowing that if I go back to where I was, I'll have to start all over again. I worked waaaaay too hard to let that happen.0

i totally agree with you...on both parts ( the ease of slipping into old ways and how much better i feel )
other things that help me...
1.i gave away all my larger sized clothes so i'll be naked if i gain weight back
2. lots of short term goals
.....i've been out of the country and my sister went back to school so we haven't scene each other...we see each other in 2.5 weeks
.....and there's a chance i might be moving to australia...there's the motivation i need to keep losing!0 -
All I have to do is look in the mirror and that's enough to keep me motivated right now. I also have tried to do a lot of reflecting on my past and how much healthier and better I feel when I am exercising.0

FITTING INTO CLOTHES SUCH A MOTIVATOR!0 -
well, when my clothes get tight again, it motivates me to kickass again obviously haha. Just experienced that.
I have a lot of selfish motivation i suppose.
There is a girl in my college class who i can't stand who thinks she's amazingly hot, and she's overweight, maybe even fat. and I just want to show her up because she's always thinking she's better than everyone else.
also, i don't want to be part of the 'fat statistics' of America.
I have a lot more, but i guess this is good.0 -

I dont want to buy all new clothes. I've done that way too many times...lost the weight, got rid of the fat clothes, only to need them again. I also don't ever want to feel like i did before. I was MISERABLE yet I lied to myself constantly and told myself I didn't care. I don't want that out of control feeling, and surely I would rather fight the little day to day battles than the huge war that starting this journey was. I don't ever want to have to go back through all that. It was INTENSE!!!! So I'm not perfect, and I have bad days...some really bad days, but I dont give up and take one day at a time, commit to just make those healthy choices and not overthink things.0

I stay motivated by giving into my "old ways" every now and then. Doing nothing and eating nutritionally void food is great... for a day or so. Then I miss running, and how I feel when I eat better, and get right back on the wagon. But I if I thought, "I can never have that again," I'd think I was missing out on something. A lazy day curled up on the couch or an alcohol-fueled feeding frenzy on half-price appetizers during Happy Hour still have a place in my life, but it's a smaller place.0

Ha! You answered the same as I would have!
Yep, all I have to do is look in the mirror & it is all the motivation I need. :grumble:0 -
