Refuse to be 50 at this weight!

In a few short days, I will turn 49. For years I have said "I will not be this weight for one more year". Now as I enter the last year in this decade of my life, I MEAN IT! I don't just mean, I'm going to try... I mean I am going to do it! The difference is that I refuse to go on another diet. So I am making small lifestyle changes - one at a time - until I reach my goal.
I will celebrate the silver anniversary of my birth as a healthier person!

Good for you! I see you've changed your terminology from "try to do " to "going to do," that is the biggest part of the battle. You have to get your mind ready. I think MFP is a fantastic site, and has everything you need to get the job done! Good luck to, and feel free to friend me.0

That's the right attitude. It's a lifestyle change, not a diet. It's easy once you make up your mind to eat less, and move more. I did it at 66.0

You can do it!
Make sure you add a bunch of friends on here because they will help hold you accountable and are a great source of inspiration and motivation!
What helps me is to try to think of every small choice in terms of a month or more from now. I get so lazy and don't want to go to the gym sometimes, but then I realize: in a week or a month am I going to wish that I had gone to the gym? YES! I always feel better after I exercise and realize that it's important to not let the excuses win.
Remind yourself that you WILL make the change to be healthy and don't let you hold yourself back!0 -

You CAN SO DO THIS!!!
I turned the big "5" "0" this year...have reached my goals and feel terrific!!! Healthier than I've been in about 25years!!!
Age is no barrier and it should be no excuse...you can loose weight and get health at any age...
