Working moms?

I turned 40 this year and decided this is the time to get real. No more excuses, no more "maybe next week".
I work at a busy office job and have two young sons, 8 and 4. In between school functions, daycare fundraisers, piano lessons, and everything else, my mom has cancer and we just put my mother-in-law in a nursing home for dementia. Who has time for exercise????
Despite all this craziness in my life, I have a good outlook on life and squeeze in fun time for myself but it is usually at a restaurant with friends or gathered somewhere around food. I've tried diets in the past and never really been successful. This time, I feel like someone is clunking me on the head and reminding me that life is short and my health is too valuable to ignore. I need to take time for myself and driving through a McD's drive through is not going to help me in the long run!
Looking for friends for support. I've tried this a million times before but this time I want to succeed.

I'd LOVE to work with you making this THE time that we are successful! I am also 40, have two sons, 11 and 13, work full time plus volunteer for my kids organizations. My nighttime schedule changes daily and weekly. My sister has just absolutely ROCKED at weightloss and I'm very motivated to catch her! Let me know how I can help you!0

Do you have a local YMCA? They are very good about accommodating families. Maybe some of your family time could be spent together working out. Families who work out together, stay together. Some of my best childhood memories are of my parents taking us kids to the Y with them. Just a thought. You're carrying a huge load (so sorry to hear about your mom), and you need some time to be able to deal with the stress.0

Hiya
I'd love to share this journey with you too.
I'm 42 with two young boys aged 4 and 2, have a full time demanding job, long commute, elderley parents, also trying to study distance learning etc etc. Exercise and healthier habits has made such a difference to my health and sense of self this year that i do find time to exercise (though it is harder in the dark cold days of winter for sure!).
I live in Scotland but have MFP buddies in all sorts of different timezones.
Sorry to hear about the difficult challenges your family is facing at the moment. I can empathise particularly with how tough it is when a family member has developing dementia - we faced this with my wonderful and much missed grandma when i was still a teenager (memories are still pretty fresh).
Wishing you and yours all the best and hope you'll send me a friend request
