Im in off season and need some motivation to pit me back in gear. What do you do during offseason to get ready?

cycling! Even better, "brick train" by combining both together and improving endurance and working more muscles.

btw - off season? what's that?
  • Cycling, elliptical trainer, swimming, gym work. There are loads of options.

Unfortunately I don't usually do much cardio cross training, unless you count hiking.

But I will strength train & do a lot of yoga as my cross training exercises in conjunction with my running.

    But seriously...

Hit the wieght room, stronger muscles = more injury proof running and often better economy of form which can help speed.

I love spinning but my swimming is awful! I get out of breath fast! Im thinking to attempt a tri next summer.
  • When my knees start to hurt (softball injury), I like swimming!

I'm hoping that I won't have an off season this winter! Going to try to run through whatever the northeast has for us.

I like to bike to crosstrain. Also I make sure I do strength training on my off days.

Winter is mostly about spinning and lifting for me. I try to get out and run when I can, but it's totally weather dependent.
