Has anyone taken an adult Barre class? The fitness center near my work is offering them at a GREAT price and I was thinking of trying it out. Thoughts?

It's going to be different for everyone. If you have the opportunity to try something new, go for it! If you're safe about it, it couldn't hurt!
  • I looooooove barre workouts!! I do them at home. I have tried Bar Method, Barre3, Physique 57, and Core Fusion. I am not a big fan of Core Fusion, but love all of the other workouts!! They are all different too. Which studio is offering the deal?? I have heard great things about Pure Barre as well.

A place called DanceWorks Conservatory in Kansas City, where I live. They are offering 5 classes for $25!

I tried cardio barre, love it!!! It's a whole different workout than what I was used to :blushing: I wish it wasn't so expensive here or I'd take it a lot more.

I'd definitely take a live class if I had a deal like you're getting in KC (jealous :-) !)... but for me, I do dvds with the Fluidity Bar that I bought a few years back. I don't use the Fluidity dvds (personal preference), loved Physique 57, but am trying out Core Fusion Collection, and will soon try out "The Dailey Method" and "Burn at the Barre". I've heard that "The Dailey Method" is great for the instructor's ability to explain the moves better than most which I think is perfect for someone who is studying barre technique at home.

That said, I think being able to try it at an actual studio/class would be priceless as you can get your form corrected live rather than just hoping you're getting it right when just using a dvd :-)

    my 2 cents

(p.s. I'd suggest checking out video clips of dvds that you're interested in getting prior to purchase, that way you can get the feel of what you'll be watching, to avoid purchases that you might regret- a site I use for that is:

(I just typed "ballet" in the search engine)

Thanks! I'll do that! I took ballet for 12 years, so I'm hoping it will all come back to me :)
