Silicone Bakeware
I know I posted about bakeware just the other day, but would like more input on Silicone. What do you like or hate about it if you've used it??
The storage factor appeals to me, but the quality of the food is top priority. I like food, yo... Or I wouldn't be here

I only have the Big Top Cupcake silicone bakeware, and it works great. I haven't had any issues with sticking and the cakes turn out normally. And the kids love that their cake looks like a cupcake...0

NO! STAY AWAY! I HATE mine! The food turns out fine, in fact probably better than in traditional metal or glass bakeware. But the damn things don't come clean! If you spray non-stick spray on it, be prepared for it to turn black in the oven and stay black until the apocalypse.0

I have a silicone bundt cake "pan". It is so much easier to bake in the silicone form rather than my old metal one. I slip the silicone form into the old metal one to put it in the oven. It might take a bit longer to bake but it comes out so much nicer and easier. Any time you bake with silicone forms, you need to have it on a firm surface, like a cookie sheet, to put it in the oven to bake.0

Of course, you're probably not supposed to spray non-stick spray, but if you do it accidently because that's what you've always done... That is what happens to your new silicone bakeware!0

I have a Wilton loaf pan that I used to make banana bread last year. It did not cook evenly at all, and there's nothing wrong with my oven, so I attributed it to the pan and haven't used it again since. That's the only experience I have with silicone bakeware.0

I have a cupcake tray and a bundt cake pan that are silicone and never had any problems with mine as far as food quality etc.
I haven't had any issues with cooking spray making it black either. Both my trays are red, and I've sprayed the bundt cake pan numerous times and never had a problem cleaning it. Though, when you do wash them, just be sure to get in the crevices like with any other item you wash, it could leave residue from the oils in the spray or even soap residue.0 -
I only have a cupcake pan. It is good but harder to clean than a regular pan. Mine does not come clean in the dishwasher and I have the dark spots left from spraying it with cooking spray also. I think it depends on the quality of the pans you are buying, mine is probably lower end stuff.0

As for quality, I see professional bakers using it all the time, so that says something to me. But everyone is different, of course
Keep in mind that you can't use it over 420 without leaching...0 -

I think the cleaning, and having on a hard surface were my turn-offs. But 420 would be problematic too...
I love having a chemist amongst my friends0
