My big fear

I am so worried that my hips won't shrink! They're just so large and I can feel the bone... I'm hoping they move in as my weight goes down.

My best advice? learn to love your curves... those of us with big hips should be proud of them!

  • I agree! I have some hips and a big butt. I learned to embrace it! :D

Stick to it and it will happen. Whereas I am shaped more like a overstuffed hot dog my daughter was pear shaped. She is on another plan but has gone from a size 36 to a snug 18 in just over a year. So from your picture you are young and it will happen.
  • I feel you! Unfortunately that straight-up-and-down look has been all the rage for a long time, but curvy ladies are coming back with a vengeance! Your weight loss will have no affect on your bone structure; however, I find that my trouble spot is actually the spot on the outer thighs that comes to a point where your leg and your butt-cheek meet...do you know what I mean? For some of us hippy girls this is actually the widest part of our curves, not our actual hip. Dropping some weight and toning the thighs and glutes will solve most of this problem. Have you ever measured your WHR (waist hip ratio)? Studies have shown that WHR is a greater indicator of "attractiveness" than weight, in fact women of varying weights can still have the same WHR. Women like Salma Hayak and Marilyn Monroe have the most ideal ratios, so be proud of those hips!

Oh, I'm not afraid of my curves lol. I'm just worried my hips won't shrink as I lose weight. Currently I have a pretty balanced (large) figure but I'd like to wear smaller than a size 16 someday.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I hope to keep my (kinda) hourglass shape.
