Obtaining a tone midsection

OK.
This might sound extremely stupid.....
But I have that annoying little roll of fat in my middle back area PLUS annoying belly pooch at the lower portion of my midsection.
I need some help.
Anyone know really effective ways to get rid of it?
And is a ton of cardio not the answer to this? cause cardio burns calories and isn't that what I need?
Exercise tips. Diet tips
Anything helps.
I just wanna tone up my midsection!!

Firstly you will need a really clean diet free of alcohol and processed foods. Secondly you will need to do lots of cardio. Thirdly drink heaps of water daily as this will assist with flushing toxins out of your body.
Your body will drop the fat from where and when it suits. It is impossible to spot reduce. If you continue to eat clean and do lots of cardio the abs will show (so I'm told). The muscles are there but you can't see under the layer of fat. Once you lose the layer of fat the muscles will show so be sure to include ab exercises in your workout routine (or workouts that incorporate using the core)
Good luck!

does that mean no like...cereal bars or protein bars or nature valley bars and whatnot??0 -
As was said, you can't spot reduce. You need to lower the body fat level to have visible abs.
Fat loss requires:
calorie deficit through diet and exercise
adequate protein (I aim for 1g/lb of BW minimum)
resistance training (progressively increasing weights to challenge yourself)
These are to promote the preservation of lean body mass.
Re strengthening the core:
planks
t-pushups
ab wheel rollouts
dragon flags
That should keep you going for a while
And no food should be banished IMO.
P.S I ate this last night because it fit into my nutritional plan (and was tasty as)
Banana/pb/choc protein ice cream with lucky charms & dark choc
Abs are still there0 -
For me it was a combination of weight training and cardio. I now have a little 4 pack0

1. a caloric deficit
2. overall lower body fat percentage
You cannot spot reduce. Ab exercises will make your muscles stronger but you still won't see them unless you have less fat.0 -

Now Chris you're just showing off!!
I'd KILL for your abs!

Agree with Chris. No food should be "banned" from your diet. These are processed foods however can be useful when you're stuck out and about for a nutritious snack. I for one carry protein bars in my handbag and car for this very occasion. Just be sure to look for bars that have low salt, low fat, low sugar, are a good protein source and cover any dietary requirements you may have (oh and tasty yummy :drinker: )
Enjoy!

I did it with strength training and a calorie deficit.0

My midsection is nothing to write home about just yet LOL, but Jillian Michaels is KILLING it with the 30 Day Shred so far. Holy moly those ab exercises are rough. I've lost 2 inches off my belly (only halfway through the program, but I do it twice a day). I have no idea if I could do this long enough to actually get a 'toned' look, I just know it's helping me so far. But I may be coming from a much worse-off place with my belly than you - I've had 2 kids and my abs had been basically destroyed - they were never there in the first place and then after kids there is a separation of a couple of inches, plus fat pooch, and I still looked pregnant when not sucking in my stomach. LOL But yeah I'm not there yet and I'm not an expert so take that for what it's worth. ;-)0

A body starts in the kitchen. Follow the food pyramid, you can't go wrong there. Portion size and moderation is the key. Don't ever deprive yourself of anything that you like to eat. You can work the foods into your daily calories. Water! Water helps with fat loss. Cardio workouts and spot toning workouts. I don't know what kind of workouts you are doing, but try incorporating Tae Bo Insane Abs into your routine. You will see a difference.0

You don't need to eat clean to lose weight
All you have to do is burn more than you eat and fat will be burned for energy!
It is true you can't spot reduce fat. So simply lose fat and your problem areas will shrink with them!0
