addicted...to gum!?!?!

Lately I have been having a really hard time with binging. Sometimes I try to chew gum to stop myself from eating, and at least keep my mouth moving. However, over the past few days I have realized that I am starting to depend on gum! i can't help chewing at least 1 or 2 pieces every day. I know its not the worst thing in the world, but the problem is, whenever i spit out my gum, it is usually to eat a meal, so after i spit out my gum i am always looking for food! i know this is a kind of strange problem to have, but has anyone else ever dealt with this? did you stop chewing it, and if so, how? thanks in advance for the help!

  • I chew probably 4-5 pieces a day in between meals. Just habit i think! Plus gum masks my tuna/garlic/onion breathe heh
  • I chew a lot of gum too :) More than you, definitely. As long as it's sugar-free, I don't think you have a problem.

I haven't really felt the need to "quit," but sometimes when I run out I have to wait a few days before I can procure more, and I haven't had any problems with that. If you do want to stop, I would just wait until your current pack(s) run out and then just not buy any more for a while...say you're saving money :)

1-2 pieces of gum a day isn't addiction. I mean, try finding a smoker who can stick to two cigarettes a day. Or an alcoholic who has two drinks a day.

At least you're minty fresh, not ashtray stank.

If it bothers you and you want to stop - then ask someone to take some candid video of you when you are sitting idly chewing.
When you see what it looks like you might be motivated to stop!
(You can tell I'm not a fan of gum, I think it looks awful to see people sitting or standing around chewing. Yuk!)
