Which meal is King??

"Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper."

"Your lunch should be your largest meal since your metabolism is at its fastest between 12:00-2:30 p.m."

"You should only eat a little throughout the day to leave room for a large meal...lions go to sleep right after their meals, so why not us?"

"Eat 10 million little snacks throughout the day!"

Okay lol, these are some quotes (save the last one, in which I inserted some sarcasm) concerning which meal should be the largest one. Does anyone know for sure which one should be? Ideas? :D

It depends entirely on your needs and what you do for the day. As long as you stay in your caloric range and hit your nutritional needs at the end of the day, it doesn't matter.

Your body knows what it needs. Listen to it. (But tell it no to the excessive WANTS lol!)

i feel bloated after a big breakfast - i tend to spread my cals over the day, no meal is much higher in cals than the other
  • Honestly, I don't know that it matters. Breakfast is important to give you energy for the day, but you don't want to eat all of your calories then and have to munch on celery the rest of the day. I think a well-balanced day is fine. Your metabolism doesn't shut down at night or anything, so if you don't get a chance to eat all day and dinner becomes a 800-calorie (though healthy) feast, you should be fine. Just stay around your calorie goal, and as long as you're not exhausted from lack of energy because of weird eating times, you're good.
  • well i say that i like to change things up and keep my body guessing... but really it just depends on what time i have to be at work. if i work mornings, i have a big lunch. if i work afternoon, i have a big breakfast. and if i work nights, i have a big dinner. other times, like when im off, its a toss up depending on what i have in the house at that time.

For me it really depends.. some days I'm SUPER hungry at breakfast, on days I work I'm hungry when I eat lunch and sometimes I want a HUGE dinner.

So, I just follow my body's cues.

I don't think it matters. But when I eat a huge dinner, I tend to be very hungry the next morning. So I guess that's a call to try to eat a smaller dinner.
