Demotivation ugh.

I've hit that mark. I can go go go for a few weeks or a couple months, then I get frustrated because I don't lose any weight. I usually gain muscle and don't lose fat. OR...if I do lose weight, it only lasts a couple weeks before I gain it back. Muscle is nice and I want it, but my muscle never seems to grow as much as I want either. I know, I know, a few weeks is nothing in the scheme of things. I'm just wondering, do any of you go through this? If you do, what keeps you going? I go through this roller coaster almost every year, I just don't want to workout much this time of year. This site is helping, just feel like the last couple days I've hit a huge wall. Help!

This time of year is the worst for me too! I love getting off work and going out for a nice run in the sunshine, wearing shorts and tanks to feel cute and see my progress, etc. But this time of year, its dark when I leave work, and its cold so I want to bundle up, and do nothing but lounge or get to bed because it feels late! lol Its really hard to stay motivated! What definately has helped me this year is my friends here online. I see them keeping at it everyday, and I don't want to let them down! I want to keep up with them! So add me!! I'll try to help you and you try to help me! What do ya say?! :-)0

You know, I've been in the same spot. But then age became a factor. I got huge and ended up in an ambulance and the ER with what appeared to be a heart attack. Now I don't get frustrated. Now I understand what a life change is. Now I realize that things like daily weight bounces up and down and that there are no steady downward lines on the chart. But now I also realize, if I don't get it right once and for all, and keep it that way, trivial things like life can disappear.

I've always gone through a lot of false starts with my weight loss. This time around I've set small goals and that way I have something to feel proud of. It's a lot more motivating to celebrate every 5 or 10 pounds lost instead of waiting to lose 50 (my goal) before celebrating.
I've also been a lot more careful about what I eat, and pay attention to what I eat even more on the days I can't work out. Also on days I can't make it to the gym I try and do 50 squats, 50 crunches and 10 push ups. It's not much but it makes me feel like I'm at least doing something.0 -

Try changing up your routine or doing something Completely different! Challenge yourself! I'm finishing INSANITY this week (working out in my Garage) and starting LiveFit next month (heading back into the gym) because of the weather. It's just TOO COLD! I used to ALWAYS be in the gym, decided I want a change and started INSANITY. LOVE IT! I will switch it up again in the spring. Prob TurboFire. IDK!
I know the body gets used to the same thing over and over. I recommend switching up the routine!

I like that, I've been trying to not focus on the weight part and focus more on how my clothes fit. I should be happy that people say I look like I'm more trim, it's just frustrating holding in a lot of water and not seeing definite results.
Agreed on watching what you eat, maybe I need to cut down a bit more.0 -
I have exactly the same thing. It is just so slow to lose weight and so much hard work!!!! I'm promising myself that I will count calories for 5 days. I'm not thinking about weight, I'm just thinking 5 days. And then I will try to do another 5 days. Sort of like 1 day at a time... but 5 days at a time.

Well, when I need motivation, I put my shoes right by my bed or the toilet. Then I get up, go, get my shoes on, drink coffee and eat something. Since my shoes are on, might as well exercise in the garage. I do zumba or hi lo or zumba for 30 mins. THERE done. Now I move on or go back to bed. Anyway, the secret for me is getting my shoes on, since I am fine exercising in my pajamas.0

Wow, that's great that you're getting things back on track. I think sometimes life needs to kick us hard before we can make that giant leap. Or in my case I need all of you to give me a swift kick where the sun don't shine.0
