I would recommend that everybody go out and buy one of these immediatley! If you watch for sales you can get a good one relatively cheap (yesterday I bought one at Walmart for $14.99, its digital and comes with a plastic washable weighing tray).

I just weighed up 3oz of left over roast beef for my lunch today and could not believe how much I got! I have been eyeballing it using the palm of my hand (as per the dietician), and completely under-eating on my meat! My hands are small, but jeeze. When I had this same roast for dinner I ate about the same amount and put down 6oz! I am so glad that I bought this, its awesome!

Accurate eating, here I come! Hehe

See, we do undereat! I did the same thing. The other night I was making a chicken breast sandwich from leftover baked chicken. I put some on and then thought....better weigh it. After 6 months of doing this I was still shocked at how much meat I had! 3 oz is a LOT of food!

I bought my scale at Marshals for $5.

    LOVE it!!

I love using my scale to check how accurate my guestimating is... I couldn't believe how much 3oz of turkey for my sandwiches actually was!!! I try to use the scale for weighing everything.

Yep, I bought a scale that turned out to not be terribly accurate several years ago, I got frustrated and never used it, gave it to goodwill. I bought a digital food scale at Target a few weeks ago and have been measuring meat, snacks, etc before putting into bags for freezing and/or snack shelf. Love it and glad I spent a few more bucks than I wanted to!!!

I got soo addicted to my scale at home. Back in college, I eye every sliver of meat with suspicion. But I just ordered a scale from Amazon, as a reward for doing well on this big ethnography project. So excited!

I use my palm too...but the dimensions always bother me.
