Due to my schedual I usually workout in the evening before 8pm, I dont like getting up earlier than I already do. I tried working out this morning and it was OK I could probably talk myself into earlier workouts. My question is, what time of day is the best for working out in regards to weightloss?

My doctor recommended working out in the mornings ... it is really difficult to do that with my schedule but his nurse has been doing it and has lost a LOT of weight.0

The one you can commit too. other than that there is no significant difference.0

Some find exercising in the morning gives them more energy, but I exercise in the afternoon/evening and have been successful. It really doesn't matter what time. Focus on the big picture.0

Yep time does not matter Commitment and Consistancy Do! You may find you have more energy to give in the morning and get a better workout. Once it becomes habit it would be easier

I have read several articles on this topic and they all differ. Some say cardio is best first thing in the morning. Others say it does not matter what time of day. My advice would be just make sure it is a time you can stick with, I do my workouts in the morning. I find if i wait till the night, i find other things to get in my way. If your not a morning person and the evening is best, stick with that. The key is to get it done.0

When the gym is empty. 1pm is usually good.0

MORNING is the best time!!!!! for you body, will keep your metabolism up all day. Mornings aren't the best for some people including myself, since I gotta take kids to school... but medical people and diet gurus agree that mornings are the best time for YOUR BODY0

Everything I have been told is working out in the morning is the best. I tend to do cardio in the morning and weight/circuit training in the afternoon/evening.0

Thanks everyone, I think I will try to make a new habit of morning workouts and see what happens. i would like to free up my evenings again but, the advice to do whatever i can commit to is great.0

Medical and gurus, do not think morning is the best. They think the best time is the one you can make, if you hate morning workouts there is a better chance you will skip it so it is not as good as the evening workout that you can and do make everyday.0 -
Yes, the best time is one you can commit to and one that is consistent. I just got done sending a PM about how I met my goals and I realized that probably the #1 thing that helped me was having that same time set aside everyday to workout. I workout around 1pm....it's about the only time I can during the week.0

For me, it's whenever I can make it, I can't commit to any specific time of day every day. Given the choice I prefer evening, but if I've got something on I'll plan a lunchtime workout or, at a pinch, hop on my exercise bike first thing. If something unplanned happens to prevent my planned workout, I'll grab a power walk. I keep spare trainers in my desk drawer and a resistance band in my handbag for workout emergencies. Flexibility is the key!0

You should only exercise in the daytime or nighttime.0

I've done both, and my workouts later in the day are better. I'm not a morning person at all, so I don't push as hard or move as fast in the morning. Do whatever feels and works best for you!0

I work out around 6pm, the day is over, and it gives me time to relax and work out. Helps me sleep, and I never have to worry about it I worked out enough to burn off any extra calories because my food intake has pretty much already happened for the day.0

What about when the sun is setting and it's dusk.. Not really daytime or nighttime..0 -
Whatever time suits your schedule best and you are most likely to want to do it...0

The best time of day is the time that you will be able to consistently workout. If you will never drag yourself out of bed in the morning to work out, then that is not a good time for you. If working out before bed keeps you up all night, then morning may be best. If you have lunch time available for working out and it doesn't interfere with your job, and you will do it consistently than that is the best time.0

Nah, 10am the cardio junkies are coming out of their second cardiofunkerpumpercise class and clog up the arm and leg torture devices. I prefer privacy when I am grunting.0 -

AMEN!
I can't work out in the mornings while my kids are in school. I would have to get up at 4 AM! I can't workout on an empty stomach because of my hypoglycemia, so I'd have to get up, eat, go workout, come all the way back home and get us all ready for school/work, take kids to school, etc. I take a late lunch break (about 2:00) and go then (gym is two blocks from work!); the gym is relatively quiet then (some days it's just me!). I am much more consistent with it then. If I tried the 4 AM thing, I'd be more likely to skip it too often than to actually go (especially when it's cold outside--it's hard enough getting out from under the blankets at 6:00!).
I haven't been able to work out for the last week due to recovery from gallbladder surgery...I miss it! Can't wait to get back to it!0 -
