I accidentally bought an unripe papaya, and didn't know it til I cut it open. Will it ripen on its own? If not, is there anything I can do with it? Thanks.

chop it into chunks and put it in a smoothie- I don't know if it will ripen but should be ok to eat0

It will ripen. set it on the counter and check on it periodically for a day or two. Don't put it in the fridge though, that will keep it from ripenning soon. I'll be not quite ripe fruit & ripe fruit to make it last longer. Have some now, have some later!0

I wouldnt leave it on the counter cut...that's asking for bugs. gross
I doubt there's any hope if it's cut and not ripe, for it to improve....either use it in a smoothie like mentioned or toss it and try again.0 -
Ack! I missed the part about it being cut! Nvm what I said! I'd toss it in the blender!0
