What do you do for energy?

I am lacking energy. Four weeks ago when I restarted my gym routine I had a ton of energy. I have changed out my diet. I feel tired no energy to workout like I was. Got a clean bill of health from my dr. only issue is a heel spur/Plantar fasciitis which I am in incredible pain from. I am still trying to do the elliptical for 35 mins and the bike for 35 mins a day. I do some weight machines. But I am exhausted this week it hit me like a ton of bricks.
What do you take/eat for energy? My husband says vitamins but I am not sure just a multi vitamin will do it. Any thoughts?

What are you eating?
I make sure that I'm getting enough nutrition (protein, complex carbs like whole fruits & grains, and good fats). And I watch my iron. I take a woman's one a day vitamin to help reach my recommended daily iron intake if it's lacking on any given day.0 -
I eat healthy and also eating veggies, fruits daily which are contains antioxidants so I can have energy.
Also make sure you drink enough water. The only thing I take is fish oil. You can find every vitamin in the foods.
Check out this cooking site which helps diets.

Make sure you aren't cutting calories too low, especially if you are exercising.
I find that exercising more actually give me energy - but I have to eat more to let me get through it.
I do find that I am more tired at night when I exercise more, but I sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed.
Good luck, I hope you find the answer.0 -

I think it would depend on what you are eating. On days I workout (which is most days) I make sure I have some carbs at lunch, not necessarily a load of it but just something. I can't go to the gym if all I ate was chicken and salad for lunch or I'll fall down lol. Also, right before I leave work (and go straight to the gym), I make a quick protein shake and drink it while I am finishing up my last few tasks for the day. This keeps me going strong.0

About vitamins/minerals-
There's some scientific evidence that the vitamin Bs help with energy, but the evidence is weak. Still... Bs are water soluble, so taking extra won't hurt unless you go really crazy.
If you're low in Vitamin D, you'll also feel tired. You can take a vitamin D supplement... or you can get some sun. I like the sun. You can get your vitamin D levels tested at your doctor. It's a simple blood draw.
And if you're low in iron, you'll also be tired. Anemia is common in women. We menstruate. Damn Eve. She shoulda left the apple alone
But no vitamin is going to be a quick fix.
Your best source of energy? Carbs. Or calories in another form if you must. But yes, you must fuel your body. Or you will be tired.0 -

Like Popeye the Sailor Man?0 -
I look in the mirror and yell out...Hey Fatboy, get your *kitten* to the gym! That does it for me!0

Make sure you're getting adequate nutrition. Consider "eating clean" (or as clean as is reasonable). That's how I started out and I immediately felt like a million bucks. Eventually you can add back in "unclean" stuff. But for starters, eating a healthy balanced diet will shock your system, in a good way. It sort of does what those so-called cleanses supposedly are supposed to do....0

Protein and carbs for energy. And caffeine helps too.0

I usually do the opposite of what's making me lethargic. For example, if I'm not getting enough sleep, I close my eyes for 8 hours. If I'm not getting enough calories, I'll go to a buffet. If I've been exercising without rest for an extended period of time, I'll go to a buffet then close my eyes for 8 hours. Stuff like that.0

Take 3-7 days off training. I'll bet you're overtrained a bit.
You wont die from not training and I will bet that you come back healed, motivated and ready to go.
Cheers,

There could be several reasons you're lacking energy:
Are you eating enough? Make sure you're netting no less than 1200 a day. And even that may be too low. Your weight loss goal shouldn't be much lower than 1 lb a week.
Are you getting enough potassium? Potassium is an electrolyte, and--if you're exercising regularly--it'll deplete your electrolytes. Symptoms of low potassium are low energy and heart palpitations. It mimics the symptoms of anemia.
In that case, aim for some high potassium foods. Contrary to popular belief, bananas are not the best source of potassium. Potatoes are a better source, as well as avocados, lentils, Low Sodium V8 Juice, and apricots. There are more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Another simple explanation is that you may be getting sick, or you may be lacking sleep. Consider your work load and stress level. And eating more protein will also be beneficial.
Hopefully that helps. Good luck!0 -

When this started happening to me, it was because I was undereating.
The other factor is micronutrients, ESPECIALLY iron as anemia feels like exhaustion and if you cut out a lot of red meat and stuff from your diet you might be lacking it. Take a multi - and cereals are actually very fortified with iron so they are a good source.0 -
I take a multi vitamin with iron that is high in D and Bs. I also take a potassium supplement. These changed my life. I got my energy back. I was iron defficient. I felt better the very next day after taking my first multi vitamin. My energy was completely restored after three months. (But I was at the bottom of the barrel. Felt like I was in my 90s.)0

I think that I am eating right. I was supposed to see a Nutritionist but my insurance just won't pay for it and I can't afford it out of pocket. I feel like everything is a struggle. Last year when I changed my diet and started working out I lost in 2 months 23 pounds. Then a lot of stuff happened and I had to stop for a while. Now I started again and it seems like I hit the wall. Week four I lost the energy and the weight is just sitting. I guess I will do some research and see if I can be my own nutritionist ....thanks everyone0

It's all about nutrition! Carbs and protein help me power through my workout. Eggs, peanut butter, etc. I workout at night after I eat my daily intake and that usually helps me out energy wise.0

1st thought, are you eating enough?
2nd thought, are you eating healthy stuff?
It was a noticeable difference (boost) in my energy levels when I started cutting out as much processed foods as I could, and eating lots of whole foods, fruits, nuts & veggies.0
