So, you guys talked me into it! In my other thread about what to eat for dinner with only 260 cals left for the day. Everyone said, "Exercise!" so I did! I picked up my girl at daycare after work, went to the park and did 8 laps around the 1/4 mile track. Whew! I started walking, then jogged a little, then walked, jogged, walked, etc. It only took 30 minutes! I definitely got my heart rate up and made it tough; not just a leisurely walk. Thanks you guys! If I can move tomorrow, I'll do it again.

Here's my question: how do I know how many calories I burned (roughly) and track it?

Thank you!!!

  • 2 miles (8 * 1/4) in 30 minutes means you were walking 4 miles an hour. Log it as 30 minutes at 4 miles per hour. If you get a HRM then you could get your calories burned using it.
  • Thanks, Kokomojoe! :)

Nice work! Warning: This may be habit forming :)

If you want a second opinion on the burn, I often refer to this site:

You can ask Santa for an HRM.

If you have a smartphone you can download an app like Runkeeper (my fave) or Mapmyrun which will track your speed and distance and calculate calories based on your weight.
