Does anyone else do strange foods to get your cals in?

So, I have noticed that my weight seems to be steadily deteriorating. I'm okay with that! Since I know, without a doubt its fat.

Now, since I been active I take my 1200-1300 at 40/30/30 and often, I'm left with no carbs left, yet I need to fill a 20-50 gram protein gap and maybe 200+ cals to meet my goal. Who knew yogurt, apples and beets were high in carbs!

So today, (laughs) I had about 400 calories left to eat. My legs are sore and I could tell that I needed to eat. Yet, I had one scoop of protein left. So I decided to get crafty and Google high protein - low carb cheaps. You know to figure out what I could do. I know eggs are an option, but who wants to eat 8 eggs!

Well I hadn't thought of tuna fish. I normally don't eat tuna ever. So I decided 2 eggs and a can of tuna would work. Yuck. But I met my cals, my protein and kept it low carb.

It's like when I enjoyed what I ate (Big macs, Chili's) it was a full time job, now that I'm eating to live, it's STILL a fulltime job. Gah.

Does anyone else do this. Obsess like this. Make meals that would normally turn your stomach last minute so that your not starving your bodies needs?

What are some of the things, suggestions, ideas you guys have or have done.

  • I have been told that as long as you're under your calories that it's ok if you go over on some of the others. I don't worry too much about it, and I've still been losing. I keep the real close eye on calories and sodium.
  • being on a keto diet, all i do is find weird foods to meet requirements...keto is high fat, moderate protein, very minimal carb...im constantly eating stuff loaded with butter and ranch dressing, mozzarella soaked in olive oil, and guacamole

Eggs and tuna are awesome! Good choices. :-)

My standbys to make up end of the day shortages are almonds, dried fruit, and cheese. Healthy, compact, and lots of calories.
  • Unfortunately my problem is that I always eat too many calories. I need to find a balance. Like seriously.

I have a max calorie diet rather than a min so my weird foods supply the macro nutrients that I am trying to achieve without going over my cal goal. I am usually short on protein and have eaten all my fat already. My standbys for this are 1 cup low fat cottage cheese, one can tuna in water and 3 Nabisco Wheat Thins - Flatbread Tuscan Herb Crackers. That "meal" is 350 cal (28 carbs 3 fat 52 protein)
