Weights and weight gain

OMG!!! I finally started getting into weights, in addition to my cardio and bam!!! The scale jumped up 15 lbs in a month and a half. Normally I would not believe it possible that this is all muscle but my clothes still fit and are even getting a little looser. I didn't update the new weight in its entirity on here cause I feel that would be demotivating, but I am seriously loving the definition that is slowing showing up.

I do have a question though, any idea when the weight will start going down the scale... I mean even though the muscle is still developing. I don't imagine I will just continue to go up in weight forever. I'm just curious.. really as long as my physical size keeps going down, I feel good about it.

Have you been tracking your body fat percentage and using this formula to see the changes in your body?

Weight x Body fat percentage = Pounds of fat
Weight - Pounds of fat = Pounds of lean body mass

To gain muscle, you have to eat foods that will make you gain muscle and a lot of food. When you gain muscle, you will gain fat too. It takes time to gain muscle.

15lbs does seem like quite a bit of muscle to add in a month, but my photos on my profile show a 4.5lbs weight gain over three months of weight training. It takes women a LONG time to build up muscle mass, however I've HEARD (note: I cannot cite this) that when women INITIALLY get into weight training it is possible for them to build up a decent bit of muscle rather quickly in the BEGINNING. (Someone feel free to confirm this.)

Regardless, I agree with the above. I care way more about how I look and feel and my measurements.

(Another factor: Do you always weigh at the same time of day? My doctor told me a good time is in the morning after I go to the bathroom that way it's consistent.)

So.. my guess (again, feel free to correct) is that you did gain SOME muscle if this is your first time weight training, and that maybe some of the weight was the water your muscles were retraining to repair the microtears, maybe you weighed at a different time of day, and lastly, weight can tend to fluctuate, so perhaps your starting weight was at a low end, and your current is at a high end. There are so many variables.

I was going to say the same thing pretty much, as a beginner you may have gained 1-2lbs muscle in a deficit but it's unlikely that any more than that is. The rest could be your muscles holding onto water (although I'm surprised if it was that much, that you would have stayed the same size) - either way, I doubt any is fat if you're still in a deficit and wearing the same size and that's all that matters right?

Make sure you weigh in exactly the same time each day, (preferably in the morning, before food, after the bathroom) and don't weigh in during TOM. That can make you gain several pounds (temporarily) just on it's own :/

Thank you all for the input.

Just to clarify one thing, I do weigh in the morning after going to the bathroom and before putting anything (food or liquid) in my mouth.

I am not unhappy with it, was just curious in how long this goes on for (estimate) before you do go back down in weight again. I thought maybe others had gone through something similar.

    Thanks again.
