Clothing sizes

For women, if you dropped from a size 18 to a 14, do you consider that going down 4 sizes or 2? Random question, but I've been wondering what is considered a size since the odd numbers are usually juniors so they are in their own little category. I would think technically that is only 2 sizes but it's fun to think of it as 4. What do you think?

Although it doesn't sound as good - I'd say 2 sizes (because you don't often see a size 15 or 17).

    I went from a 28 to a 24 and I consider it two sizes, b/c women's sizes are lik 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, etc. :) Congrats on going down 2 sizes!! :D

That would be 2 sizes since well it's 2 sizes...Lol. If you're wearing womens clothes & it's labeled even numbers (8, 10, 12) or if you're in juniors, (9, 11, 13) either of em go by increments of two per size. So yea.

:flowerforyou: i was wondering the same ive gone from an 18 to a 10-12

id say 2 sizes, as there isnt an inbetween in AUS anyway lol congrats on the weight loss! must be fantastic buying new clothes!!
  • I'd say only two sizes since they go in even numbers (with the exception of juniors clothing) 15 and 17 don't really exist. But great job for going from size 18 down to 14!

Agreed on that going from a 18 to a 14 is two sizes.
I very very very rarely see an odd size, and they are usually jeans.

Yeah, I agree it's probably 2 sizes. I see all the odd sizes (even 15's, now that there are more junior plus sections in stores), but yeah I figure it's 2 sizes since they are all cut differently. (My mom tried to explain to her 55 year old friend why she shouldn't be wearing junior sizes since the busts are cut higher and the hips are not in the same place, but she got mad for my mom saying she was too old for those clothes lol). I rarely was ever able to fit into juniors even when I was thinnner or a teen as I've always been too hippy and curvy. Sizes are funny, maybe it would be easier to have waist and inseam like mens sizes. Cause womens' sizes are bigger than misses, too. A 14 and a 14W are totally different.

I luckily (or unluckily) have a variety of jean sizes from gaining, I saved them so I have 10-18. I just dumped all my 18's at goodwill because I looked ridiculous and couldn't keep my pants up. But I haven't bought too many things. I don't want to spend money only to be going down from here, just a few things. Bras first (always first to go), then pants, shirts I will wear a lil big for a bit. I wear scrubs at work so the stretchy pants can last a bit longer. :) I've lost more inches than lbs I think though I haven't tracked them, I just exercise a lot. So 10 lbs on MFP and a previous 10 from this year.
